  2. If you're just talking hitter and not the overall package, it's Albert Pujols.
  3. Since Gallagher's seen a good amount of action in the majors, I'm going to keep him off my list. That also applies to guys like Pie and Hart. With that out of the way... 1) 3B Josh Vitters 2) OF Tyler Colvin 3) LHP Donnie Veal 4) RHP Jose Ceda 5) RHP Robert Hernandez 6) 2B Eric Patterson 7) RHP Dae Eun Rhee 8) 2B Tony Thomas 9) LHP James Russell 10) C Josh Donaldson Man...the draft and short season ball can't come fast enough for this system. The results so far have been really disappointing. I'd have a hell of a time making this list if it were Top 20 or even Top 15.
  4. Fascinating. Niko Vasquez Seems like he could be an option in the second round.
  5. I like this idea, but he signed an extension this past offseason through 2011 with a mutual option for 2012. Plus, there's a nifty clause in his contract that bumps his salary up by $1m a year if he gets traded. I'm guessing the Rockies have factored him into their long term plans.
  6. In tonight's game, Jay Bruce was at the plate in the bottom of the 8th with the winning run on first and no outs. Bruce is 3/3 at that point with a double. What does Dusty do? Call for the bunt! :rotfl: Naturally, given that Jay Bruce has had about 1,500 professional ABs in his career and has never once recorded a successful sacrifice bunt in those ABs, this turned out to be a rather horrific AB that ended with Bruce fouling out to 3B.
  7. Ehhhhhh...Harden's a horrifying arm injury waiting to happen and Blanton is mediocre. I'd take a pass on those two.
  8. Given that Tennessee is playing at West Tenn, hopefully we hear from an old friend or two from around those parts over the next five days. :D Anything you can tell us about the notable Cubs prospects at Tennessee that you saw would be most welcome!

  10. As much as I've enjoyed following Mitch Atkins over the past few seasons, he's really got to do something about those HRs given up. If he had them at a reasonable number, most people around here would be clamoring to see him in the majors.
  11. Nah, I enjoyed that win, but I'm not a fan of games that threaten to rip out my heart only to hold back at the very last second. My all-time favorite was the 2001 game. Mongo getting kicked out and the run-down to end the game were insane and memorable for all the right reasons.
  12. LaTroy Hawkins from 2004 being on there makes me want to kill small, furry animals.
  13. Fair enough. We had a favorable outcome as a result of the moves. Hindsight it 20/20 and all that. :P Also, amusingly enough, today is Scott Eyre's birthday.
  14. I would have given anything to be there. I immediately got goose bumps (amidst running wild up and down the stairs). Does anyone know if any posters were there? A few people were talking about being worried about the weather before the game, since they had tickets. We should be hearing back from them once they sober up.
  15. just as impressive as 3 strikeouts on 10 pitches is that they were all looking. From my memory, the last cub pitcher with a performance as dominating as that was ten years ago this month. What did Wuertz striking out the side with the bases loaded look like on a pitch by pitch basis? That was one of the best middle relief performances I've ever seen.
  16. That 8th inning was surreal.
  17. The Cubs were getting killed 9-1 at that point and both needed the rest. It turned out to be the right move, weirdly enough.
  18. I gave up when it was 9-1. I decided to check and see how things were going a little while later and the score was 9-6 in the 7th. Wow, I'm glad I checked in on this game. What a rush!
  19. hahahahahahaha And you all doubted Kerry Wood's might!
