  1. Dunno who this guy is, but sign all the players, Theo
  2. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--cubs-land-jon-lester-with--150-million-deal-165658135.html Good thing we didn't have that built yet
  3. Hey Jon, you can play with this guy for about 67 games a year. Sign on the dotted line.
  4. Gotta agree. While I haven't decided to completely disown him, it's getting close. The wine is helping though. I still feel like he's telling the truth.
  5. God that would be so much [expletive] fun if he did that
  6. I actually think Chicago is a very desirable destination for a guy like Lester but I am biased and moving to Austin in 2 weeks. Also, the Christopher Russo commercial where he just yells scared the living [expletive] out of me. How he makes money doing this is beyond me.
  7. Eno Sarris ‏@enosarris 3m3 minutes ago Bobby Evans: "we did not receive a rose" and Giants eliminated from race for Lester. sheeks ‏@sheeks9 2m2 minutes ago @enosarris thats an awesome quote if true lol Eno Sarris ‏@enosarris 1m1 minute ago “@sheeks9: @enosarris thats an awesome quote if true lol” real quote. I'm standing here with Bobby.
  8. I had faith as well, but I have my pitchfork, torch and rope ready just in case...
  9. Same. On my app at least. I think you might be ok by just searching Lester though. Down on the desktop too
  10. There are also things called "jock taxes" so when a team plays in NYC their salary over those 3 days is actually taxed by NYC. Land of the free indeed.
  11. Yeah, seems like the MLB couldn't get it straightened out either. So did we give up the good one or the shitty one?
  12. No I was thinking more of the talking heads on TV and should have been clearer there.
  13. How can u say they are 3 below average guys when u r saying they r at least 1 win players? That, by definition, is average to above average. Also if Shark/Sale pitch like the did last year and Rodon pitches like the high pick he was with their bullpen looking to be pretty solid all they might need is for Abreu to be awesome and then the rest of their offense to be around 1 win guys to be a playoff team. Rodon? Relying on a 2014 pick to pitch meaningful innings as a Major League starter seems like a sound strategy, and I like Rodon as a prospect, but that dude's arm. I love Sale/Shark/Quintana but there is that whole offensive part of the game that also matters. They signed Zach Duke and Robertson, so their bullpen is solid all of a sudden? I don't think they're done adding pieces but this team, as it stands, is far from a lock to compete in that division.
  14. Well, if the 25 year olds aren't going to get any better... What 25 year olds? They have 1 player that played on their MLB roster for an extended period that is under 25. EDIT: Position player under 25 I don't see the where Eaton projects to get better with the bat also he's entering his age 26 season. Eaton already had a .367 BABIP in 2014 so if you think he can improve on that I guess he can become a better hitter. Flowers is 29 so he is what he is most likely but I actually like him as a catcher with occasional. Garcia has the most upside, but I am not a believer in his ability to hit for power at all, but he could be a very solid MLBer. Gillaspie also enjoyed a well above average BABIP season in 2014 when you look at his minor league numbers and he's 27. Viciedo has 1800 PAs at the MLB level I believe the getting any better ship has sailed. I am not sure where you get all this projectability. I don't see this team scoring enough runs to truly compete. The top 3 in the rotation is sick. They have 2 relievers that aren't god awful, but that can be patched. You can see them trying to build in the mold of the Royals, but I don't know if that kind of winning is a sustainable strategy and Duke and Robertson aren't Herrera, Davis and Holland.
  15. Garcia no, I've never been impressed with him and think he's a 1ish win player and gets hyped because idiots called him Mini-Miggy. Gillaspie is another 1 win guy. LaRoche is 35 coming off a win 1.6 win season so I guess he's ok. So those are 3 below average guys, and Eaton who's a league average player. So no, I am not impressed with them at all offensively. Replacement does not mean average. 2 wins is more in line with league average production.
  16. Also that whole black hole at 2B is pretty glaring. DH - LaRoche C - Flowers 1B - Abreu 2B - Micah Johnson? 3B - Gillaspie SS - Ramirez LF - Garcia CF - Eaton RF - Viciedo? One bat in that lineup is a threat and maybe LaRoche if you believe a 35 year old won't get worse at baseball.

  18. Anyone else think the White Sox are still going to kinda suck? Shark is perfectly fine and I like that rotation, but they have one good hitter...
  19. So did Nightengale I am starting to hate SF as much as hate the Cards. I just hate their fans. I lived in NorCal a long time and that fan base is just as obnoxious as Cardinals fans.
  20. The crawl is "live" - the show at the time was not. Oh ok that makes sense. First time I've ever turned on MLB Network. Thought it was all one live show for some reason. Welp, now I am back to feeling dumb
  21. Ok I thought I was going crazy. Good to know that's exactly what happened.
  22. This. Our committed payroll is around $60 million, even if PTR won't let us eclipse $100m that's close to $40m to spend. Rogers is just trying to rile up the masses to pitchfork and torch status. This is about as nothing a comment as Theo can make.
  23. Rogers is a complete hack and ESPN 1000 should have never moved him off hockey. His entire schtick is being the wet blanket at all times and he has no grasp of how to apply statistics in analysis. He provided no context on this quote so as to get the negative reaction he likes, and when you read the context of the quote you can see Rogers was only trying to mislead the majority of people who only read headlines. I despise Jesse Rogers.
