  1. Unless there's a move that's made where Castillo is the backup next year, Ross would be a very good addition. Backup catchers, as a rule, are terrible, so getting a strong receiver like Ross who at least in the past has shown some ability to not embarrass himself at the plate is basically all you can hope for. Hes no worse than Baker You mean lights out reliever, John Baker? I highly doubt that.
  2. I am pretty sure PTR is buying up whatever shitty Costco brand pops are out there and none of this name brand nonsense.
  3. I think my personal favorite part of this offseason has been watching that 14 year old kid go down in flames. I am overly emotionally invested in watching that turn into a train wreck
  4. I picked a fight with a lurker I'd never heard of. I don't know how much more I can do to help. Not with an attitude like that. We definitely need more clubhouse leadership on this board. Anyone know how to contact Markakis?
  5. Adam Eaton, Jose Quintana, Carlos Rodon Quintana is better than Shark. younger, but not better younger and arguably better Since they both became full-time starters at the ML level they are comparable but age absolutely matters. Name GS IP K/9 BB/9 HR/9 BABIP LOB% GB% HR/FB ERA FIP xFIP WAR Quintana 87 529 7.14 2.51 0.8 0.303 73.1 % 44.7 % 8.7 % 3.55 3.55 3.77 10.6 Samardzija 94 608 8.82 2.62 0.96 0.298 72.5 % 47.9 % 12.2 % 3.7 3.5 3.29 9.6 I tried to format this so it's readable but not sure if I did it right.
  6. Adam Eaton, Jose Quintana, Carlos Rodon Rodon cannot be traded and Quintana is better than Samardzija and under control for longer. I think Beane is trying to re-stock his farm system. Maybe Tim Anderson and some other pieces? I'd have to get at least 2 of Anderson/Montas/Danish and another intriguing young wild card like Hawkins. Just saw on MLBTR that the A's could be waiting for Lester and Scherzer to sign. I think that idea makes a ton of sense.

  8. And he's back saying the talks are confirmed and in the advanced stages. This will either be the end of his credibility or he could go all Lloyd Christmas and totally redeem himself.
  9. He has completely walked it back and is apologizing that his source gave him bad info  He's saying it wasn't his Red Sox "source" that burned him but one in Cincinnati. I am thinking maybe he only has a source in Boston realized he pretty much told him to eat a dick on Twitter and made up the "source" in Cincinnati.

  11. If it's going to go past $25m AAV then just turn around offer Max 7/$210m and flip Lester the bird and walk away.
  12. Some jackasses on Twitter saying Sox upped their offer to Lester and it now stands at 6/$145m. Edit: This is reportedly a match of the Cubs offer to him.
  13. I think the Giants would be more willing to make the move but I agree that straight up would be difficult, but I don't think it would take much a kicker either.
  14. I just wonder if it could get done straight up. If so, then I prefer Grandal to Susac. Wouldn't you rather have the years of control on Susac?
  15. I think he's broken and he's owed a lot of money going in to his age 30 season for a pitcher that has produced 1 fWAR in the last two seasons. He a lot like reverse Jaxon in that he's always outperformed his peripherals and a low home run rate playing in a pitcher friendly home park. Matt Cain 2016: $20.8M 2017: $20.8M 2018 Vesting Option: $21.8M ($7.5M buyout) No thank you.

  17. That's a lot of question marks surrounding Valbuena's future and he's already going to be 29 for all of 2015. I like him a lot and I am not sure we could ever get equal value for him but it doesn't hurt to explore the opportunities.
  18. What about a Susac for Valbuena deal? I can't really find anything on Susac's framing ability in numbers but I know everyone he's ever worked with has raved about him.
  19. I just feel whatever Valbuena brings back just won't be worth it especially from the Giants.
  20. Or if the Astros didn't go full Astros with the first pick.
  21. The email hack is an interesting angle and I dunno how they're doing it but I am pretty sure I hate them. Until they break something positive for the Cubs The Cubs don't use computers as part of their recent budget cuts so good luck with that you snot nosed kids.

  23. Backstory on the kid: http://bostinno.streetwise.co/2014/11/24/jake-wesley-mlb-twitter-account-broke-red-sox-signings-of-hanley-ramirez-pablo-sandoval/ The 13 year old is disputing this claim.
  24. It's just a little airborne. It's still good, it's still good. I think I will take that job in Austin now. No need to stick around for the false hope. I can do that from Austin where it's warmer and I am less engaged.
  25. Yeah I can't see or understand the Red Sox direction. They are either blocking Betts or Bogaerts which seems weird to me.
