  1. Everything I've heard says the Brewers are not willing to part with what it's going to take to get Halladay. So at least there's that.
  2. Jesus Christ, isn't Zaun like 80 years old? ETA: According to baseball reference...38. Jeez.
  3. I feel bad for how things turned out for him. Seriously. The poor guy can't catch a break.
  4. Well, today is the only day they play the nats... Then it's on to a 3 game series in Philly. Today's game is a makeup from an earlier rainout. And...they're delayed by rain currently. So that's fun.
  5. must have started coming down pretty hard - they were right in the middle of an at bat.
  6. Some dude named Alberto Gonzalez doubled in Adam Dunn and the Nationals have a run. 4-1 cards. ETA: according to gameday, this was promptly followed by a coaching visit to the mound. I assume to inquire as to how the hell wainwright managed to give up a run to the nationals.
  7. I had no idea Holliday was in a contract year.
  8. Well, fiddlesticks. If they really do end up with Holliday I may just give up on baseball entirely (kidding. But really, that would suck)
  9. Wow, all of those kids and no parents... Are you sure the farm wasn't a... ranch? Did he give them "Jesus Juice" too? Eh, pretty sure Babe was too big a fan of easy women to dabble in the shallow side of the pond. *for the record, i know you are joking*
  10. YEEAASS YYEEAASSS YYYEAASSS YEEAASS YEEASSS .... HIIISTORYYY Baaahahahahahaha.
  11. Oh, and the Nationals put up one of their best offensive outbursts all year as they just strung together two singles - putting runners on first and third - before ending the inning. ETA: Ron Villone just came in to pitch. I had no idea that guy was still alive.
  12. I think he either hit a batter or someone reached on an error because I seem to remember 2 hitters reaching. He hit someone.
  13. Why would a Sox fan work at Wrigley? Decent pay for a part time job. Already dislikes the cubs so it doesn't bother them that in most positions you don't get to watch the game anyway. They don't hold a childish disdain for a team that really has nothing to do with their team of choice whatsoever. There's probably a number of reasons. Ah ok. You kind of made it sound like they did in your above post. Like they're really obnoxious Cub-haters or something. Oh, haha, nah. They just like to talk - all the ones I work closely with are genuinely nice people though.
  14. Oh, and Cards up 4-0 already in the fifth.

  16. Personally, if I was the president, I'd totally take advantage of it to call the players of my favorite sports teams when they did awesome things.
  17. Which means we'll lose 2 of 3. Kidding, we should take 2 of 3 easily.
  18. Well, congrats I suppose. The sox fans I work with will be unbearable tomorrow, though.
  19. Well, sanchez isn't exactly big - but as Exile alluded to, it's not exactly minor tinkering either. Especially in the eyes of the media.
  20. Olney was on ESPN radio (the show on ESPN) and he said the cubs "may tinker with the bullpen" but they "will not make a big deal." Take all that for what it's worth, but I figured it was worth mentioning. Mods, sorry if this doesn't deserve it's own thread. Feel free to merge.
  21. I'm in the EH category. They have a few old guys who will probably fall apart in the second half - but we'll see.
  22. This could probably just as aptly be named "Cardinals beat up on the Nationals" as that is the only game that really closely affects us today. It's sure to be a slaughter as the Nationals are throwing out some guy making his first start this year. STL: Wainwright (10-6, 3.01), WSH: Balester (0-0, -.--)
  23. Please make this series bearable, cubs.
