    I'll probably miss it, too. I have to go into work at 3. I dont know how long i'll be there though. I'm "training" with my manager today. I'm moving to Stocker (yay, no more bagging), and she's ellegedly gonna train me for register too...So i might be there a while. If i miss it, i wont cry.

    Ok, so I'm wrong. I had never heard that that was where he was born. Huh... He was born in Curacao. But, apparently you dont need to be born in a country, to represent it. Pudge Rodriguez was born in New York, but is representing Puerto Rico.

    Yes, he is representing the netherlands. It was on the HR derby page on MLB.com. It had a picture of jones and said "Andruw jones will be representing the netherlands..."

    In case it hasnt been posted, This deal included a No Trade Clause for this year and next, and a "limited" no trade clause for 07 and 08.

    This is pathetic. only THREE of the top ten hr hitters in baseball are playing. If I was in charge, It would look like this: 1. A Jones NL 2. M Teixeira AL 3. M Ensberg NL 4. A Dunn NL 5. A Rodriguez AL 6. C Floyd NL 7. C Lee NL 8. A Pujols NL Now, I left lee out because we already know he turned down an invite. But, If it was up to me, thats what it would look like. Those are the top 9 (lee is missing, of course) HR hitters in baseball. So what if there are only two AL guys. What does it matter, its a HR derby. not an AL NL derby. Thats what Tuesday is for. EDIT: I just realized Tejada was not part of that group. Oh well i guess, I strongly beleive it should be the top HR hitters. Tejada didnt do enough HR hitting during the season to make it to my derby, so tough cookies. :P

    If this is posted somewhere else, merge or lock htis... But Guess who is starting for the NL... Chris Carpenter. BIg surprise, larussa picks his own guy. Garland is starting for the AL.

    Screw that even. Why not just have the top 8 in baseball. Its a home run derby, not a "league leaders in HR derby"

    If your Idea of saving money is paying someone thirteen million dollars to play somewhere else, you sir, are insane. IIRC the Cubs overall payroll went down as a result of the Sosa trade. They did have to eat a lot of the contract but did not have to pay as much as they would have to keep him. Since his production has been awful this year and he would have HAD to be starter if he was kept on the team I say that ANY money the Cubs saved on payroll was a bonus. If the Cubs have a better team without Sosa and have lower or even the same payroll then it is a good thing. For crying out load, Sosa's numbers are pretty comparable to Neifi's this year! One guy with those numbers is painful enough to see in the lineup every day. I realize this. What i have been saying all year long is that, that deal was horrible. If people beleive he had to leave, fine. So be it. He is doing badly this year, so its probably best we have someone else. However, hendry could've done so much better than that. The organization did a horrible job dealing with the whole sosa thing. If they could've kept their darn traps shut, and not went blabbing to the media, his stock probably woulda been higher, and we couldve gotten more, and/or paid less of his contract. This was a bad offseason all around in cubbie land.

How do you know it wasn't me posting the radar? :wink: How do YOU Know it wasnt the cubs pretending to play smart baseball? :P How do YOU know it wasn't Dusty deciding to put Hairston and Walker 1-2? :P :P That would fall under the smart category, imo.

    I would like to withdrawl my statement about that being something that butchers the derby. I thought it was like the multi-colored basketball in the 3-point competition, it is worth more points. However, I was wrong, it actually gives money to charity if they hit it out. I'm a loser.
