  1. That's not a lot to stand on. Thats why we call it speculation.
  2. Your right. Your slam was directed at a large group. Those who do not agree with you. Saying that something is the only MATURE and RESPONSIBLE way to do something, implys that what other people do is immature and irresponsible. Hense, a slam.
  3. Which is why it also doesn't make sense to me as a precursor to another trade. Gerut isn't anything special. Plz see the Jason lane posts. Maybe Gerut fits the bill of what Cincy wants more than doobie.
  4. opposite day would have also worked nicely, mr. sauce You are both experts. Vote on it.
  5. What insight do you have that points you to that? While all we are doing is speculating, it is an educated speculation. We are combining Information from a very reliable posters Source, and Jim Hendry's track record. (he has traded for someone who is unwanted/meaningly/sucky and spun him in bigger deal. See: Aram & Lofton for Hill and Jose Hernandez, 2003) This isnt that far of a streatch. Do you think a guy like Jody is a deal breaker in a blockbuster deal? Guys like him are a dime a dozen. It's ok to speculate... heck I do it in cards trades. I'm just sayin... Jody freakin Gerut?? Please go back and read what Vance said. The Reds reportedly wanted Jason Lane from the astro's as The "established position player". Jody Gerut > Jason Lane Makes sense.
  6. Derrek Lee's first full season: AVG/OBP/SLG/OPS .233/.318/.414/.732 What a pathetic loser. For EVERY derrek Lee you pull out, I could pull out 10 that didn't turn into him. At least 10 probably a larger ratio. Cubsin05 said it first, but... Werent most of todays stars rookies once, too?
  7. KRod and Miguel Cabrera say hello. Dubois wouldn't even be able to SNIFF their jock straps. For the most part, WS teams have veterans. I can pick a few rookie studs out of my butt, but Doobie is not one of them. So you have a quote in your signature about dusty sitting the youth, then an Eye rolling emoticon. Yet you say here that WS winners are veteran.... Uh...How does this make sense.

  9. It's based on the information that the Reds wanted Jason Lane in a deal with the Astros. Lane's career numbers: 254/313/491 29 yrs old Gerut's career numbers: 266/337/440 27 yrs old It's not a stretch to see the similarities. Maybe the Reds had no interest in Dubois, but they like Gerut. Vance, you rock. YOu are making my hair brained idea earlier sound good.
  10. Exactly, it is the cubs. we've done it before (remembe jose hernandez?) I understand your point and all. this team is a huge dissapointment and makes me wish i wasnt born, but still.
  11. We never said they did. The reds want a "established position player" The cubs really couldnt provide that, well, They could, but I dont think hendry really wants to give up any of our established position players. It makes sense then, that we get a guy like gerut, by giving up a prospect, to then spin to Cincy.
  12. YES! Haha, I said this a few pages back. GO me. I said he may be the "established position player" they want.
  13. Yes. Well I guess that means the end of the thread. Thanks all! Your pissed because he answerd your question?
  14. Yes. Yep. Yes So he has one bad game and we are supposed to say to hell with him. 1. His OBP is still stellar. 2. Dont you think the move to a club that will put up more runs around him, and win more games, will elevate his play just a little. even if it doesnt. That OBP and that power....i want it.
  15. Okay, back to my theory i brought up a couple minutes ago, only revise it. Maybe cincy wants Hollandsworth, but first, Hendry wanted to get someone to replace him.....still. Couldnt dubois have done that. <--------- wants dunn.
  16. If Cincy desired Gerut in a trade, Cleveland likely would have shipped him off to Cincy by now for Joe Randa, who they are rumored to be ga-ga for. *sigh* It was a thought.. But, I really dont get this move...It just has to be part of SOMETHING bigger. I hope.
  17. No, you are right on par with our thoughts. What the hell is the point of this deal?? I have a strong inclination that its part of something larger. Tell me if this makes sense For some reason, the reds want Gerut. But, for whatever reason (probably a territorial thing) the Indians GM does not want to trade with him. So, Hendry trades for Gerut. THen spins him to CIncy in a package for dunn. He could be the "Established major league position player" that we have talked about in the dunn threads. THoughts?
  18. We need to get out the Bruce Miles Signal! PRONTO. Or hoops. Both would be good.
  19. Byrnes? A Gerut/Byrnes platoon would be good, yet we would probably overpay for what it would provide. Who would we send Colorado? It would have made more sense to just send Colorado Dubois for Byrnes. Exactly. You'd think they'd want dubois more than Gerut. Gah. This is really confusing me. I dont know if hendry is just making some unneccesary move, or if its part of something bigger. I CERTAINLY hope he doesnt think this guy is the answer.
  20. Beat ya too it. I would really hope it is. If not, this isnt that great of a deal, imo.
  21. I really dont understand this. Unless this is part of something bigger (ala Jose Hernandez in 03) Plz be dunn.
  22. I guess the organization really didnt like dubois too much. Darnit. Now watch him become a star.
  23. Okay, Well, actually, I just want feedback on the proposals I am thinking of making. A couple of things to keep in mind: This is a dynasty league, it lasts for many years, so it is like a real organization. Roger Clemens is real old, and probably wont play next year. I am so far out of contention this year its not even funny. Not that I have a bad team, they have just all underacheived. Okay, All that beign said, A guy in my league message'd me and said that he is interested in Lew Ford, Jhonny Peralta, and Roger Clemens. The only three guys on his team that half way interest me are Carlos Beltran, Gary SHeffield, and Todd Helton. how does this sound, all things considered: Roger Clemens, Jhonny Peralta, and Lew Ford for Todd Helton and Rich hill (we have minor league systems too)
