Agreed. Something is going to happen. Our current outfield looks like this: Hairston Burnitz Murton Greenberg(DL) Greive Hollandsworth Gerut Thats SEVEN outfielders. Six if you dont count Greenberg. I think one of Gerut/Hollandsworth/Hairston is going to be traded. Also, hendry was quick to mention that gerut could play center. Maybe he is planning on trading CPatt (our 8th outfielder) to someone soon.

Well, its 1 AM here. Luckily, i'm off tomorrow, so it doesnt matter how late i sleep in. But still, I should sleep. So i guess I'll take this lull in the action to go get some sleep before I wake back up and continue trying to figure out the meaning of this move. :P

More posts like this, plz. We haven't seen enough of them. :roll: Wow, way to welcome him to the board. Yea, he's a newbie, cut him a little slack. The reason we all lust for dunn is his .900+ OPS. He may only get on base with hits at a .240 clip, but if he can continue to get on base with walks+hits at a .380 clip(considering thats his career obp, i think he will) .....uh........get him here fast.

This is where we disagree. You seem to beleive because we present this information in a way that would end in us receiving dunn, doesnt mean we will beleive it happens. It is simply the result when you tie the information together in ONE configuration. You could come up with a bunch of different logical speculations based on the information. We are just presenting this configuration as one in many many possible conclusions.

We technically did when we acquired Mienkyalphabet and sent him to Boston as part of the Nomar deal. I think we also aquired Orlando Cabrera right before shipping him away too....(also the nomar deal)

Jose Hernandez, 2003, CHicago cubs. They aquired him, he played 23 games, then we turned around and traded him to the Pittsburgh Pirates along with Bobby Hill for Aramis Ramirez and Kenny Lofton.

If it's logical then why is it patently so unlikely? Just because somethign is logical, does not mean it is 100% going to happen. Let me reitterate, if htey wanted jason lane, then isnt it at least logical they want a similar player, who is slightly better, in Jody Gerut. If you do not see the logic there, Then like i said, we will simply just have to agree to disagree. Is it likely that its going to happen, no. Based on what we know, is it at least a logical jump, yes.

I have been doing that for the last half hour. You just refuse to beleive that something of the sort could happen. Look, i never said this hypothesis was fool proof. You act like i have to be 100 percent sure of something before i may speculate. The information i have peiced together, is done so in a logical manner, if we cannot agree on that, then there is no way we can agree on anything in this discussion.

In the tearms we speak in now, it is speculation. Now, no doubt it has holes. but when you put it all together, it does make sense. It makes no sense at all. Why would Cinci actively seek out and desire a mediocre outfielder as part of this trade? Because the source said so. Vance is a highly respected member of this forum, and we have no reason to beleive what he says is untrue.

Look, i'm not saying the idea is fool proof. It has a million ways it could come undone, but it makes sense based on the info we have.

No, it isn't. It's possible that Lane has an upside that interests Cinci. It's possible, like Vance suggested originally, that they're asking for the best from any given system and aren't trying to fill very specific roles. In fact, I think the latter is probably the most likely alternative. True. But I am not standing on any one of these speculations alone. I/we are lumpign them together. When you add them all together, it makes sense. Its possible that lane has an upside that intrests cincy. But seeing as how their numbers are very close, with gerut having the slightly higher numbers in every category, wouldnt it be just as logical to speculate that they see that same thign in Gerut.

That's not a lot to stand on. Thats why we call it speculation. Speculation implies reasoning rather than guessing. Because it is. When you add together hendrys track record. The information from Vance's souce. The comparison of lane and Gerut. That is reasoning.

Your right. Your slam was directed at a large group. Those who do not agree with you. Saying that something is the only MATURE and RESPONSIBLE way to do something, implys that what other people do is immature and irresponsible. Hense, a slam. Sorry Roast, I don't see it. He was replying to me too. I know that can be kind of a fine line, but given his pasts posts about evaluating the trade, I don't see an attack. I thought it was, by the wording and the....well....size of the line in question. I will step back now. This is why i am not a mod.

Like I said, I don't know much about Lane, but Gerut looks like a role-player. If that's what Cincy is looking for, they could get one anywhere. Lane and Geruts stats are fairly similar in every category. Geruts are just a touch higher in just about every category however. If Cincy wanted lane, isnt it logical they would want Gerut?
