    Doubted. I think he just wants to give Fuku a day off but still play sori. I'm sure you're right...just grasping at straws. Another topic, could Fukudome be effective at leadoff and how would that set up the rest of the order? I think he'd be very effective. High OBP and he even has enough speed to convince old school managers. I'd set it up like this Fukudome DeRosa Lee Ramirez Soriano Soto Pie Theriot Pitcher Lou would put theriot ahead of pie though.

    Let's hope so. I'll even take Pie is going to be a SOLID player! He'll be solid and then progress to fantastic. I have confidence in Pie producing. The key is playing time and this year is the year for him to get that. Meph disagrees. :mrgreen:

    what the hell else are we supposed to talk about during spring training? i'm pretty sure he gets spring training. My sarcasm detector is on the fritz so I'm not sure if this is sarcasm or not. But caring about wins and losses is not the purpose of spring training. You mean we lost a lead in the late innings when we had a bunch of guys who wont make the roster playing a bunch of guys who wont make their roster? THE HORROR. well..after writing that I'm pretty sure it was sarcasm.

    It would appear that Dempster is going to be the #3 starter unless his arm falls off or something, so you might as well root for him to do good. Yeah, but I think if he gets rocked three or four times during the regular season Lou will quickly pull him. Especially if Marshall can continue pitching somewhat effective.

    Except with the 1.000 OBP, you have a .000 SLG. (approximately). That's not true. If he walked every at-bat, he wouldn't have a slugging percentage. It would not exist. Which...is the definition of Zero.

    Petrick is on the 40 man roster, so for him to be sent back to the minor leagues he has to use up one of his options. The rest are non-roster invitees, so they can just get assigned back to the minor league camp. OK, but why does he have to actually go to Iowa right now? Why can't he use an option and just go to minor league camp in sunny, warm AZ??? he doesn't go to Iowa, he stays in AZ at the MiL camp did we change trp AAA affiliates? I thought it was Pittsburg? That joke was SWEET in 2003. LOL Prior throws towels! Krispy Kreme Hendry! yea... Yeah, maybe that's why I didn't pick it up. Furthermore, what is Triple Triple A?

    LOL That's all I have to say. I'm not sure you quite understand the concept of spring training. Especially when it's only like the second week of games or whatever it is.

    Also: I too will boycott whatever company buys the rights. Unless, that is, they do something like let it continue to be called "wrigley field" but sell signage inside the stadium. If the name gets changed, though, I stop buying from the company that buys the name.

    They already said it would be bad marketing for them. Again - speaking from the marketing class I talked about in th last post, people (people being: "marketing experts") seem to think it would be financially stupid for Wrigley to buy the naming rights. No one thinks of gum when they think of Wrigley Field anyway, so it wouldn't help them in any way and whatever 'good will' respect they get from cubs fans wouldn't be enough to make it worthwhile.
