  1. Who do we face sunday? This very well could turn out to be our first 3-gamer of the year if we're not careful.
  2. YES YES YES YES YES YES YES They moved Fukudome up! But if you're going to throw out Derosa, Fontenot, Blanco, and Cedeno in order against Halladay...it's going to be a bad day.
  3. Well, the Cubs don't bat a lot of ninth innings at home. How many times has there been a bottom 9th at Wrigley, the 8 losses plus however many 9th inning comebacks and extra inning games there have been. Yeah, not a whole lot. We've played a ton of 8 and a halves there.
  4. I really wish Pedroia would have been given the Pie treatment last year. That way boston fans could have one less thing to be obnoxious about.
  5. Most years I would say no. But this year, like others have pointed out, we are just one or two pieces away from being an absolutely unstoppable juggernaut. So if we were to trade Hill, Pie, Colvin, Veal, etc all away and get something like a Sabathia or a Halladay in return? I'd do that in a second.
  6. What the hell, I'll go ahead and start both. PHI @ STL - 2:55CT Eaton v. Lohse MIN @ MIL - 6:05CT Perkins v. Suppan BOS @ CIN - 2:55CT Wakefield v. Volquez NYY @ HOU - 6:05CT Mussina v. Rodriguez That Boston-Cincinnati game should be interesting. I wonder how Volquez will do against that lineup.
  7. So, Rob is apparently still smashed from two days ago so I took it upon myself to start this. If someone else wants to, then I suppose delete this. Anyway, here's the match up: This bum: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/150302.jpg (4-3) vs This Stud: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/136880.jpg 8-5 Try not to lose too bad, losers.
  8. Companies can sell subsidiaries in which they have a very low basis through tax-efficient transactions like Reverse Morris Trusts and tax free spins to shareholders, but they usually involve the parent company or its shareholders receiving stock consideration. There are some debt + derivative trades that can allow for tax-efficient monetizations, but it is unlikely you could do it with an asset like this. Since it seems that the Trib needs/prefers cash consideration, I highly doubt they can find a way to make this a tax-efficient sale. The only thing I can think of is doing some kind of securitization of revenue streams or licensing fees as part of the deal. That could be a possibility. You're smarter than me. +1
  9. I remember when i would have been comfortable with lee here.
  10. okay cubbies. We just need one, though i'd love to get 2
  11. To be fair, he would be in the opposite batters box, so that's a big assumption.
  12. Wait, what. Blanco over soto the rest of the way. I don't like this.
  13. I love when I refresh my page and BOOM. girl with her knockers out.
