  4. Do we stinks, sucks, smells or combo Of all three?
  5. And why in the heck would they care who got him when they're way out of it? This is way weird.
  6. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 6m Sources: DeJesus back on waivers. Do #Nationals really want him? Story: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/washington-nationals-david-dejesus-chicago-cubs-trade-081913 …
  7. Well dejesus isnt a 12 win player. I doubt the FO is looking at 2014 as a year where they expect to win over 85 or so games. They're probably looking at 2014 as a nice step to average before hoping to take the leap into contention in 2015. That's looking like it could be a pretty huge leap. At some point they need to start adding players that they think can stick around and fill holes for the future. Bargain hunting and dumpster diving for another year and then expecting all the top prospects to hit their potential and acquiring (trades or FAs) stars in 2015 to turn into a 90 win team isn't very realistic. The dumpster diving routine is getting pretty old. I, like many posters, realize that this happens to be the Chicago Cubs, not the Royals, Marlins, Pirates or other small market teams. The fact the new regime (Tom Ricketts) is setting us up for year three of this is not something that should be tolerated by three million fans again. Cubs fans are going to really need to stay away if this is what we have to endure again next year. Theo and Jedd are great, but if they're being hamstrung by payroll limitations, they can't do what they need to do here.
  8. Yep, that's what they're gonna do alright. You'd be surprised at that? I mean I'm sure we will get a major league ready player as well, but if they move Castro, prospects will be involved.
  9. This is fun. Just wait until Theo and Jed move Castro for prospects at the winter meetings.
  10. Long overdue for Sandberg. But we have Sveum! :-" :stickman:
  11. Although the thought of Sveum blowing a gasket and threatening to send the whole team to Iowa could be nice entertainment. There's certainly zero of that on the field. :x
  12. Shutout 4 times in the last 5 games at home. That's a neat trick
  13. IMO, Pat Hughes has become borderline brutal to listen to. Between his gross overreactions to medium deep fly balls and his odd excitement when things go well for the other team, he's not very good any more.
  14. Nothing spells success like a 1-7 homestand. :hello:
  15. How can you not love Junior? Kid is really something.
  16. http://dailyupperdecker.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/hawk-150x150.jpg"You've got to be bleeping me!"
  17. That is really hard to do. They're not even fun bad, they're just [expletive] terrible and awful and all of that.
  18. I've never been one to shed a year when that team goes bad, so this has been quite an enjoyable season. That said, I was listening to WSCR this morning and a White Sox fan called in and offered up the following: The White Sox were 24-24 in late May, just off a sweep of the Marlins and were about to begin a series with the Cubs. The Cubs went on to beat them down in three straight games and set the White Sox on a spin they never came out of. Since that time when they were .500, they have gone an astounding 16 and 42. That's right, they've lost 42 of their last 58 games since the start of the Cubs series. That's a special kind of bad. I know things have been tough here as we rebuild but at least we are not living through that kind of season. :stickman:
  19. I say they groom DeJesus to be the next manager. Hitting coach at the very least :stickman:
  20. Would like to see DeJesus around when this team hopefully competes next year. I don't want to sound redundant, but I really like his game.
  21. Give me Skaggs or Bradley plus Kennedy and we'll throw in Kevin Gregg's remains. Lmao!
