  1. I'm here in San Diego with my daughters, going to the game tonight and tomorrow. Our hotel is about 500 feet from Petco, with a great view of the Stadium!! I think the Cubs may be staying across the street. My nephew works for the Padres and we got to tour the stadium and go out on the field. We may be able to get on the field for batting practice, so will try to get some good pics. Looking forward to seeing the young guys play!!
  2. That could be it. When I looked up and saw Brett from the CF camera view, Hamilton is who came to mind.
  3. Glad they called them both up. I'm heading to San Diego tomorrow to catch the Mon and Tues games, gives me something to look forward to...
  4. Random observation.....Jackson looks a lot like Josh Hamilton. Be nice if he hits like him too. :D
  5. but he hit 2 homeruns Goony, point is he can hit the ball out of that park. It's not THAT difficult a place to play. That isn't really the point. He can hit the ball out of any park. The point is the rate one would expect to do it in different parks is quite different. Yeah, that's true. My thinking was that here is a contending team that actually wants him, and he doesn't want to go there. I don't see many other teams knocking down the door to get him.

  7. I went to 2 games at AT&T where Soriano hit 2 of the longest HR's I'd ever seen in that park. Makes no sense why he wouldn't want to go to a contender.
  8. After this stunt, I think he's worn out his welcome in Chicago....
  9. Why? Dempster was within his rights to torpedo the trade. He exercised those rights. How can you support punishing some one that has done nothing wrong? The thing that he may very well have done wrong is lie to his bosses about his intentions. I dont understand Dempster's motivation for doing that though? I'm not saying he couldn't have lied, I'm just not sure why he would do that. Wanting to look like the good guy while hoping everything would work out in the end and he'd be in LA. This is exactly what it's looking like.
  10. Contract or control? Fair enough, he's under control. They can still trade him this offseason, next trade deadline or even extend and keep him. The amount of concern over Garza possibly not being traded seems misplaced. Very true. Dempster should be the focus. If you can get a great return for Garza right now, then great. If not, no big deal.
  11. Why? Dempster was within his rights to torpedo the trade. He exercised those rights. How can you support punishing some one that has done nothing wrong? If he agreed to be traded, then went back on it... Like someone else already said, I was fine with Aramis not wanting to be dealt, because he said so right up front. Doesn't sound like that's the case with Dempster.
  12. It's a tricep cramp. Has no one ever experience a tricep cramp before? It goes away after a couple days, if that. Also "Hasn't pitched since his injury"? He pitched on July 21st when the injury happened. His next turn in the rotation would be tomorrow, with or without the injury, but he happens to be having a kid at the time so he can't make that. Not an injury, but a child, and he's slated to pitch when he comes back, a couple days off from his routinely scheduled appearance. You guys are chicken little-ing the [expletive] out of this. Any injury to a pitcher's arm is kind of a big deal..... It may be nothing, but I would not want to be the GM that makes a big deal for him, then finds out it's something more serious...
  13. If he doesn't change his mind and get dealt by the deadline, I'd sit him the rest of the year.
  14. No doubt. A team would be crazy to risk much on Garza at this point. Maybe he just had cramping because he wasn't hydrated enough, like Zambrano used to get with his forearm a lot. But I would not be willing to chance it right now...
  15. I have no reason to believe it didn't play out exactly the way Wren said it did... I hope this is how it happened, because then it would all fall rightfully on Dempster.
  16. This is so Cub-like. Hopefully the true story comes out, but I doubt it does. People will just have to speculate on how all this went down. I want to give the FO the benefit of the doubt, but if they are the ones that whiffed on this, it would definitely not be good....
  17. I can see it playing out this way too.... I highly doubt Dempster ever told them "yeah, I'd accept a trade to the Braves", and then turn around and do this. He doesn't seem like that type of guy.
  18. This is like an episode from a soap opera, except less believable.....
  19. You're assuming that you know an awful lot of behind the scenes details. That kind of sounds like what everyone is doing......
  20. rather have the rangers trade for garza Me too. I'm just basing it off the ESPN Insider mentioning yesterday that LA was off Demp and onto Garza.
  21. No doubt. LaRussa and Duncan were also great at taking guys that struggled and turning them into very good pitchers. Welch, Stewart, Eck, Moore, etc.... Looks like that is continuing with Matheny and his regime.
  22. That's where I'm at right now too. I finally get a chance to watch a couple of games, and this is what I get to see. 2015, or whenever they are going to field a decent team again, can't come soon enough.
