What Bonds did was not agaisnt MLB rules at the time. He was a HOF if he had retired after 98. That is why I think he will get in.

The Giants did a background check on Anderson and two of Bonds' trainers. They found out that that Anderson was involved in steroids. They didn't want to get Bonds mad. I am not sure if Dusty was notified, but I don't think Dusty is too obtuse not to realize something illegal was going on. I wonder if that wire testimony was part of the Grand Jury testimony. Who was wearing a wire? Did the Feds do this before the BALCO bust?

But isn't it McGwire and Sosa's fault for taking steroids first and getting Bonds jealous which is why Bonds started taking them? :D Well then it is MLB's fault for not doing serious testing with serious penalties from the mid-90's on. They knew guys were taking them. But they needed the big homerun seasons to re-energize baseball after the strike season.

If Anderson gave Bonds all that stuff without Bonds knowing then why hasn't Bonds sued the heck out of Anderson? Bonds knows that Anderson would tell the truth and Bonds would look even more foolish. Bonds cares too much about his body to take stuff without his knowing about them. I can't believe Conte squealed so easily when the FEDS found out BALCO. I guess he knew he had no chance. But you think they would have covered their tracks a little more. On a side note, I heard a 6 minute interview with Dusty today on the SCORE. George Offman did a nice job of throwing some tough questions to Dusty. Dusty said he has never seen steroids before and thought that Bonds just had worked out extra hard before. He also said that it was Giants management that let Anderson in the clubhouse. The Giants didn't want to expose the Bonds steroid situation right before the opeing of their new park. But Dusty continues to evade questions. He had to know something was going on with Bonds. He did. He just diddn't to find out what it was. And maybe it wasn't his place, btu he had to know something illegal was happening. Bruce Miles, I love your work, but it sounded like you were trying to help Dusty out by saying something like "Dusty do you ever get tired of these questions..." Dusty should start coming clean cause he is only going to look even mroe worse when it all really comes out. Still, MLB does not test for HGH.

Z definately looks slimmer. I heard him say he wanted to lose 20 pounds and I am realy glad that he took the initiative. Watch him get hurt now though. But he has been the best Cub pitcher the last two years. Doesn't get recognition, but I am fine with him flying under the radar. I think he has a good of a shot as anyone to win the Cy Young in 06. Good hitter too. Didn't have have a better average or OBP than Paterson last year?

Today, when asked if the Sox can field a team similar to the Sox, Dusty said no. Each team is different and they don't have the same personnel. If they were a model to replicate, don't you think every team would follow it according to Dusty. In esponse, the White Sox won through pitching, defense, and timely hitting. They were a solid team. The Cubs could have a strong pitching staff, have a much improved pen, and certainly can hit. At least as good as the Sox did last year hitting wise. Dusty needs to stress fundamentals at camp and all year long.

He also had the good fortune of Bobby Jenks coming in and kicking tail out of the bullpen. Without Jenks, I'm not sure how well the White Sox would have done in the playoffs. Yeah but a lot of managers wouldn't have put Jenks in the closer role in the first place. He could have put Hermanson back in once he got healthy. When did Hermanson come back? I distinctly remember watching Hermanson blow a 9th inning against the Royals near the end of the season, right before I left the rec center. Hermanson didn't pitch at the end of the year at all. I am not sure if he even pitched during the playoffs. Ozzie got a contract extnesion during a plane ride near midseason. He came very cheaply. I don't even think it was 2 million a year. You really can't say he is rich in the sense that he tried to get a huge whopping contract.
