  1. Boers and Bernstein said today that Wood and Garland have similar numbers coming into 2005, yet Woody is heralded as an ace and Garland had to prove himslef in 2005 just to stay with the team another year. Wood definately has better stuff, but his injuries have kept him from becoming the pitcher he could be. But the fact is that Wood is at the top of the league in K's, opponents average, and usually walks unfortunately. He has been on the DL what, 8 times? Their W/L records are similar, but I really believe that Woody has had more bullpen blown games than Garland (take Woody's first start back, Rusch comes in, first pitch, homerrun, tie game...which is why there should be a rule change that if you are a reliever and give up the lead you can't win the game, the starter should). I can't believe B/B relied on the W/L record to size up the pitchers. Woody wins in WHIP and ERA drastically up until this year, two of the most important stats for a starter. W/L tends to explain offensive production more than how good a pitcher is. That said, Garland looks like he has turned the corner!
  2. Anyone see the Bulls game tonight (4/5)? Nocioni on Wade, who tried a three, faked out Noc' who landed on him hard. Wade kind of held him there for a second which made Noc shove him and then Haslem came and threw him into the first couple rows. Noc got a flagrant bu the Bulls just sent him to the locker room anyway so nothign else would happen in a blowout. I thought Wade faked him well and Noc' had to land on him. For Van Gundy to say that Noc' the role player shouldnt foul great players hard like Wade is wacko. I didnt think it was even intentional. Haslem only got a T I think also. Weird calls. The APsaid: In the fourth, with Chicago lurking and down by just 11 after a 22-10 run, Wade had consecutive baskets to push the margin back to 15 — and join Glen Rice as the only players in Heat history to record three straight 30-point games. The game had an ugly ending. Haslem was ejected with 2:52 left after retaliating for a hard foul committed against Wade by Nocioni. Wade drove into the left corner and was fouled hard by Nocioni, who then struck Wade a second time — this time in the back, knocking him to the floor. Haslem charged toward Nocioni and shoved him, sending him sprawling over some cameramen seated near the baseline. Nocioni was called for a flagrant foul and a technical. He was not ejected, but was escorted off the court by Bulls team personnel.
