    Why were Rusch and Neifi bad signings? Neifi hit about as good as you can expect for a sub and played gold glove defense. Rusch is an adequate 5th starter on any team and long-reliever.

    That was a good call by Dusty. Neifi has good numbers against the pitcher and had a bunch of hits. Now if he will just play Pagan in RF if Jones is sumping terribly 2 months into the season. To pinchhit Maybry a few days ago was a great call also. I guess Dusty knows he might get a contract extension so he is actualyl managing wiht his head screwed on. But folks it is early.

    I read in some box score that Dempster had a save yesterday. Is it the scorer's decision if it is a 4 run lead?

    Neifi might not have been a great second baseman last year, but he was arguably the best defenseive SS in the league last year. Good range, got fielding percentage, few errors.

    The Bulls got the Knicks pick. With this draft getting two players early won't help much. Too bad it's a terrible free-agent year. But they Bulls need to get that 7th spot to avoid Detroit first round. Great job Skiles and the whole Bulls team!

    Great game. They were lathargic until 8 minutes left. Tyson played great at the end and so did Noch. Heck everyone did. I really didn't see that rally coming. But great work Bulls. Ben scored 23 on his 23rd birthday.

    I loved the intensiity that Pierre showed yesterday. As soon as he hit the ball he took off and he sprinted the whole darn way. And when he made it to third he gave a huge fist pump which was an unbelievable way to start out the season. Since all Frenchmen are chefs and Pierre is a French name, I say we call him the chef cause he is always cookin up something at the top of the order.

    I predict by the end of the year we will be looking at Murton, Lee, and Ramirez as solid big boppers. . 25 homers for Murton is not out of the question, IMO. I can't believe that Murton's homer went out. I thought he was jammed and was just going to hit a blooper or a flyout. Maybe the wind helped, maybe Murton is pretty strong, but that was a great homer. Keep it up Matt!

    Gamecast is slow and I am in class. What happened after Neifi was pinch hitting? Was that the longest half-inning or was it just a slwo gamecast?

    No. Z has the single best pitch, even better than Wood's curve with that 95 mph sinker. He is healthy and a horse and can hit .300. I'd take him over Wood and Prior in a heartbeat.     Oh man I thought on ESPN gamecast that ball was gone. I haven't used gamecast in a while, but now thehy have the ball actually flying out to where it is hit. I about screemed out, "stay in the park" to a dumb icon on my computer. Thank God for wireless internet so I can keep up while I am in class.

    I am expecting a blowout today. The Cubs have fared well on Opening Days lately. I remember a few years ago when Corey was on pace to get 1,000 RBI's or something close to that after the first game. My prediction: Cubs 5 Reds 3.
