  1. Way to throw away a great kickoff return. First pass in this weather is deep right to Loveland?
  2. Hurt in warmups. Reinjured his foot. The Bears are rushing back players and this just can’t happen. They didn’t need Rome today.
  3. I’m with you. I thought it was a great signing and maybe it still can be. I thought someone had separation space and I thought DJ was ahead of Rome a few weeks ago. Does anyone have an update on this?
  4. DJ has had 1,000+ yard receiving seasons with multiple QBs. I don’t think it’s him. There are a lot of skilled targets on this team. From what I’ve seen and heard, DJ is open plenty of time and he is the #1 target on a lot of pass plays. For whatever reason, Caleb is not getting him the ball. And the amount of money he’s getting for this level of production just can’t happen. Maybe the Bears can trade him for a position of need and take someone else’s bad contract with tons of dead cap money. But the risk is that Rome or Burden gets hurt next year and now you need a skilled receiver who would get more targets.
  5. I can’t believe that Brisker has been able to stay healthy all season (knock on wood)
  6. Cap hit of $13 million next year and a dead cap hit of $17 million. Yes, they need to have a replacement (Wright?), but the bad contracts and lack of production are starting to pile up (Dayo, DJ, Gordon). 3 of the Bears top 9 paid players are either injured or not playing well.
  7. Philip Rivers officially starting tomorrow. I don’t get all of the outrage by some commentators over this. The Colts are holding the 7th playoff spot and don’t have a better option. Why not?
  8. Earning that extension
  9. I would prefer that, but I guess they’re expensive and expensive to maintain. They’re not popular anymore.
  10. Ben seems quite frustrated with Kyler’s health. He knows his loss contributed to the team’s loss Sunday. Between Jaylon, Dayo, and Kyler, the Bears have had an awful lot of high-priced players hurt. I know it’s football, but it’s never good to have $50 mil+ on the sidelines for an awful lot of games.
  11. Ben is very good but clearly not perfect. He has to coach a perfect game when the other team’s two most important players, their quarterback and defensive end, are better than your quarterback and defensive end.
  12. Bears in the 7th spot in the playoffs with the Packers, Niners, and Lions on the schedule. If the Bears miss the playoffs, it will be because they can’t beat playoff teams ahead of them. Still, a 65% chance of making the playoffs.
  13. At the 41 yard line early in the game the passing game was in shambles. You only throw there if you are planning on kicking a FG on 4th down if the pass is incomplete. As far as the last play of the game, go with your strength which is running or a straight Caleb play action naked bootleg run. And to roll Caleb to the left makes it harder to get something on the ball. The Bears are good enough to get a yard on 4th down running it with 27 seconds to go and two timeouts in their pocket even when everyone knows it’s coming.
  14. Not running the ball enough in the first half, not getting into FG position in the first half on the GB 41, and the final play call
  15. He made 3 big mistakes today. That’s gotta stop happening.
  16. Week 1 he tried to be too clever by trying to have Santos kick it through the end zone. Then the 3 really bad decisions today. He needs to be better. He’s obviously pretty good, but he has to be better.
  17. DJ Moore with 1 catch for -4 yards. $28.5 million cap hit the next 2 years with $35.5 million in dead cap money next year. 3 TDs and 500 yards is not getting it done.
  18. This hasn’t been his first time trying to be too clever. You don’t get more wins for winning with trickery.
  19. But that’s what great QBs do. The difference between great QBs and average ones is often the ability to play well all game over and over again.
  20. Or just run the ball on 4th. They were having lots of success in the second half. The run game is far more reliable than Caleb right now.
  21. I don’t disagree with your comments - the future is bright. Still, 3rd and 4th down were ugly. Taking too much time on 3rd down forced Ben to try to score on 4th down instead of just running for the 1st. Ben gambles a little too much.
  22. I think they used 30 seconds for the 3rd down play. They were so worried about not leaving time on the clock that they rushed themselves at the end. In his postgame interview, Ben said he would have gone for two had they scored.
