    I looked at Kane County's website and for about 30 seconds I was looking forward to seeing a Kane County game when they played the Bowling Green Hot Rods (just over an hour for me). Then I looked at the schedule and saw that Bowling Green plays @ Kane County, but there is no return trip. :banghead:

    Organizationally there are others more qualified to supply questions, I'd be interested in knowing how the possibility of being "Maholmed" (for lack of a better word) impacts free agent signings. On second thought don't, you'd never get a straight answer. Edited because my brain isn't working tonight and it wasn't readable before

    As long as there isn't a NTC and it isn't longer than 2 yrs (preferably 1 + a club option), sign him. He's exactly the type of pitcher we need short term. Above average to good with potetial to be better and have a good trade value that can be flipped at the deadline. I don't think a NTC is a deal breaker for him because he won't get one anywhere. But he's got to know that signing with the Cubs is an invitation to be moved in July.

    Just to clarify, he hasn't actually had 4 DUI's. He is being charged with 4 counts stemming from one occurrence. This is his 2nd DUI, but who knows how many other times he has either not been caught or been let off the hook. From a purely legal point of view two is much different than four. But in my opinion I don't see much of a difference. Like I said one is understandable, but if you don't learn your lesson on one I have no sympathy on subsequent offenses.

    When Grace was a player I thought he was great, although his lack of power at a power position was a problem. I saw interviews when he talked about getting to play in a baseball cathedral and thought he was pretty cool. Remember seeing an interview with him while he was with Arizona where he talked about always turning the D'backs tv to Cubs games his first year, still liked him. All the goodwill is gone. One DUI/DWI is bad, but it can be explained away as a stupid mistake and forgiven with a "...but for the grace of God go I..." mentality. Four is another story. He is either incapable of controlling himself or too egotistical to worry about the people whose lives he is playing with every time he gets behind the wheel. Lock him up. Hiring him to be a "face" of the franchise as a color commentator would be a public relations blunder of epic proportions.

    I was thinking there was a rule about this when I saw the play last night... Of course there was absolutely no way for the umps to see that at full speed. Gotta root for the Giants now. They mentioned it during the game. Can't remeber who it was but they said the rule didn't apply to a broken bat. Makes sense, absolutely no way the hitter can control where a broken bat piece goes.

    I live in West Kentucky and almost everyone around here is a Cardinals fan. Drives me crazy, I am so sick of people looking at me and saying "Go Cards" because they cannot even conceive that someone wouldn't root for the team from Hell. I think my frustration may have gone a little overboard in the grocery store this evening when I said, "The only thing I'll be rooting for is the Cardinals to die a slow painful death like the pond scum they are!" Too much?

    I couldn't care less about the Nationals, but since: A) I hate the Cardinals with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns and B) The enemy of my enemy is my friend. GO 'NATS! However I will save my celebration until it's over. Those "expletive deleted" birds are hard to kill. Michael Myers was easier to put down in the Halloween flicks.

    I loved him when I was a kid. Then I realized what he was all about after I grew up. Same with me. Thirded. Yep. When I was a teenage I loved him and Thom Brennamen as a team (Bow Tie Tuesdays anyone?). I thought their banter was pointed and funny. Now he comes across as more snobby and elitist.
