  1. One more game until it's 4 more games 'til Marty's fourth. Can't wait to see that overhyped Rangers team get put out.
  2. Bundy pron in the form of a 2 minute video within a scouting report article: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/scouting-dylan-bundy/ The stuff is as nasty as you think it would be, the fastball is as hard as you'd expect it to be, and he buries a curveball at 1:44 that clearly has curveball of doom potential. Kind of reminds me of a young Javier Vazquez with a better fastball. Not sure at all why Vazquez is the first name that came to mind...maybe it was the two curveballs he throws during his side session/bullpen at the beginning, and the leg kick has some similarities. He's got the same kind of blow it right by you fastball Sheets had when he threw hard (it's also straight), and if he can bury that curve like he does in the video...I'm babbling here just watch the video and enjoy Bundy being Bundy.
  3. Cole Hamels, BJ Upton, and Mark Appel/Kevin Gausman here we come!
  4. Vitter's double just missed being a homer, according to I-Cubs twitter... if anyone cares. His iso numbers are actually not hate able. .267/.311/.421...11 doubles to his 4 HRs....More K's than I guess I expect from him but nothing absurd. I think he'll end up doing quite well. The guys a living, breathing roller coaster. One week he's 3-22 and the next thing you know, he's on a hot streak. Sound like someone we know and are paying 18MM? Nah he usually picks up after a slow start at a new level. Last year he picked up in May until he got hit in the head.
  5. What's the power ceiling consensus? I'm thinking maybe 25.

  7. Yes, this I can agree with you on. Much of anything else, not so much. Damn even my baseball stuff? Things I choose to edit out for no reason? You have a way of writing that makes my head hurt. The minor league stuff is okay when it's not completely out of left field. N&G tormenting you doesn't help either, but you have to learn to not poke a bear with a stick at some point. N&G and I are the same person. Also, even when I'm serious nothing I write is serious enough. It is a fatal flaw.
  8. I like that as the season goes on new names are becoming more Common to talk about. Raley went 5 today for Iowa...6 H...5 R/ 3 ER...3 BB/ 4 K...1 HR....At least he picked up some Ks. Vitters went 3-4 with a double...up to .267 with the batting average...maybe his OBP is over .300.

  10. I've never seen such abhorrent taste in women come pouring out of a person in a 24 hour period. Yes you have. Two of those blondes were hot, and redheads are truth. This is an everyday thing with WGN's fan cam...they always shoot girls in the crowd. The Yankees and Mets don't do this.
  11. I Love fan cam. They might As well rename it hot girls at the ballpark time...or sumthin.
  12. Okay ... go ahead and question my sanity ... but that would be an awfully tempting package. I'd have to ponder it some more ... and I'd want a secondary piece or two thrown in there, but Davidson has really taken off and is probably one of the top 3rd base prospects in the minors. That's 1 elite prospect (Bauer), 2 really high quality talents. There is absolutely zero chance that I think that happens, though. Call ME crazy but like Skaggs better than Bauer. Theyd still have to improve the deal.
  13. No link to his BCB post since I refuse to give Al Yellon traffic: http://forums.prosportsdaily.com/showthread.php?p=22286835#post22286835 I do remember this guy offering info on signings last summer. Hopefully this is true. Biiiig fan of Almora as well ever since I was introduced to the name here.
  14. I still think Baez's second position should be 2B.
  15. Fn Shark man....Nice range Soriano! There's many blondes in Houston, arent there?
  16. Of course there will be backlash, but Colvin has (unfortunately for that draft) been one of the more productive first round picks from 2006's first round. Also generally speaking I'd say its better to be wrong going out on a limb by yourself. It's just more comforting/comfortable to be wrong with other people.
  17. Brian Matusz is weird. 3 of his last 5 starts have been against the Yankees, Red Sox, and Rays and he's put up: 18.1 IP / 3 BB / 18 K / 15 H / 5 R / 4 ER The two sandwiched in between were against the Rangers and the Royals...10 runs in 11 innings with 17 hits, 6 K's, and 3 BBs,. This is one of my favorite long term LH arms. Like Porcello, another not so strong performing young arm, I mean long term as in 5+ years from now (obviously on the condition of health).
  18. Have to figure that maintaining the ML roster was more important and treated as such by the Trib while they worked to sell the franchise. Wilken's job probably has nothing to do with trying to persuade anyone to give him more money. Hell, Hendry probably wouldn't even be the guy to ask for more money, it's the Trib's money. Knowing they planned to sell we know they had multiple agendas, and the draft/minors probably did not have a huge role in meeting those agendas. If Theo came to an empty farm system and completely empty major league roster then maybe there's a problem with what Wilken has been doing. That's not the case, and it's one of the reason why being able to contend even next year is not such a ridiculous idea. Being able to flip Cashner for Rizzo...having a bullpen with some power arms (and more on the way)...having a young star SS...having Shark and Garza in the rotation...these are all things that can help speed up a rebuilding process...I've watched teams like the Rays and Royals take a decade+ to be of significance...the Cubs won't have to deal with that because the last FO left a bit of a foundation to build on despite the highly flawed current roster. Plus, the 2011 draft was sweet. Baez has as much potential as any bat in the organization, including Castro.
  19. Cano had a .271/.305/.410 age-25 season How legitimate a comp do you think Cano is for Castro? Keep in mind that Cano probably gets a power boost from his home park and it's short porch in RF (didn't check his splits).
  20. Assuming the run environment is static? 330/400/540 I was thisclose to writing something along those lines...less OBP though....330/.385/.530 or so.
  21. Read on PSD from that guy with the info that Soler is "imminent" and that the Cubs are targeting Almora. Take it for what it's worth. Both sound great to me, especially if it's actually true.
  22. IMO this is a poor argument as well. They're not working with a community board or any kind of consensus...They picked from their board, and neither Drabek or Jeffress has really done anything worth talking about either. Both had character issues coming out, and both have had character problems in the big leagues.
  23. .320/.360/.500 with 20 (give or take 2 or 4) HRs, lots of doubles, 20 SB, and average D at SS. Problem is I might have just made that up.
  24. WHY THE [expletive] DID NO ONE TELL ME THAT PSD IS MOSTLY NOT THAT BRIGHT?!?! Restore me to sanity please...Matt Davidson/Trevor Bauer/Tyler Skaggs...still no, right? Right? Wtf is a Matt Davidson?
