  1. Real thing or a diabetes joke? Edit: Or surgery...on his wrist...that's usually a good thing if you want to be in the majors in 3 years.
  2. That's like thinking the Garza trade was a mistake at the start of last season because of the hot start that Fuld got off to. Except Sam Fuld might still be in the majors in 3 years. He isn't even in the majors right now.
  3. Devils in 7, snitches.
  4. That actually looks like a cutter (of death)...Could be a slider (of evil)...I was hoping to see a curveball (of doom).
  5. Mason Williams top 25? Oh wow. Didn't see that coming, BUT really the prospect world is only now recovering from the crapload of graduations of some awesome talents in recent years. Still surprising to me...
  6. To play Devil's Advocate...they could want to work on aspects...maybe his swing, most likely his body....throw some weight on him, work on mechanics...mostly I think it might have to do with working on him physically (just a wild guess, nothing to back it)....I mean a kid that young in his pre-AA or even High A days, is it really an issue? There's work to be done even outside of game experience, and he'll most likely be allowed to climb the ladder again anyway. Sucks...it's annoying even, but if its to help him out in the long run then I have no problem with it even with his May.
  7. Yeah said he's the best PR talent since Beltran. That's high praise. I hope they go for it and make Gausman/Appel more possible.
  8. More wondering if he's in Pomeranz's class of college lefty...big fan of Pomeranz...This guy seems to have similar size and yeah his changeup is ahead of where Pomeranz's was even when drafted. Good to hear there's a lefty in college baseball with some top tier talent.
  9. He can go back to playing in his adult baseball league in LA then (yes, that's where he's being scouted). ROTFL. An adult baseball league in LA...wow that's funny. That's the guy from last year?
  10. Rondon is that good? Did he hold his velocity better than he did in HS? How would he compare to a Drew Pomeranz? Does his upside really best Appel's?
  11. Fastball was as low as 86 (up) to 94. Threw a couple of really nice ones. Could not throw his breaking ball for strikes in the inning. Threw a cuter or two at 88-89. The Vandy 2B is athletic. This Vandy team doesn't seem as badass as a couple f then from before, but I'm not big on college baseball. Woodruff the Miss St. SP just dropped a 71 MPH curve for strike three. He looks like he has a good arm. 90-91 so far.
  12. Tyler Beede throwing today for Vanderbilt against Miss. St. Good changeup, solid mechanics, and has hit 94 twice so far in the 1st. Glad I found this. Best MLB game on is Rays-Sox and I'll pass...Serenity is on anyway.
  13. Love the first pitch swing last inning. I slammed the remote.
  14. I sincerely doubt anyone here needed to be told that. Holy [expletive] I get it...I'm not a popular poster. Tears have been shed over this already. I doubt my situation is dramatically different from most because..we are posting on a message board.
  15. Assuming that latter's .217 BABIP isn't permanent, I don't see Vitters being good enough to take the job away from Stewart in the next year and a half. I like Vitters quite a bit, but I suspect his value will be greater to a small-market team in need of a cheap 3b solution, and we'll be able to use him as a trade chip to that end. Everyone's a trade chip right now but unless someone better than Ian Stewart shows up The Vitters has a better chance of sticking around. Stewart is not a real long term option, BABIP hell or not. He's not really a good player.
  16. in other words, you have no information whatsoever but you posted because you had to reach your self-imposed goal of 100 posts a day. I have a lot of free time. Who knew Matt Loosen drew such a following?
  17. He's gone through a big adjustment period at pretty much every level so far before turning it on and becoming productive. This gives me hope for his future. Still like him as a starter at 3b in the next year or so. Same here. Stewart is just keeping his seat as warm as Stewart can keep it, nice and lukewarm. Still think he can turn into a Travis Fryman type player.
  18. Bingo. He might as well have a no-trade clause in his contract. A no trade clause he's already said he would waive if it helps...at least I read that here.
  19. Yes, I can't disprove the thing you can't prove, therefore it's possible they paid a guy 6 million to eventually sign his friend. Was that 6 million one lump sum to be paid this year and count towards ML payroll? I'm too tired to look up his contract. Can't hang with you CST zoners. I'm pretty sure he got a 3 mill bonus and has 3 mill spread out over 6 years. Not 100% on this though. You're being intentionally literal? I'm Eastern time zone!
  20. Young Vitters: .266/.316/.430 11 2Bs/ 5 HRs/ 10 BBs/ 30 Ks OPS at 1.082 in his last ten.
  21. Badler and Goldstein have stuck to their guns on their evaluation of him for some time, before and after he signed. Decidedly might have been the wrong word for that scouting report....Sometimes his fastball is fine, sometimes it's not...some like his curve, sometimes they don't....could have projection remaining but lets not commit to that...mechanics are off (in a 20 year old IFA? Nooo!)...some say he has 5 starter upside...others see a bit more...Then they finish off with saying he'll start off in Class A...a developmental level...For a lefty...a young lefty at that that is well acknowledged to still need coaching up/development (and supposedly has the aptitude to take well to it) the good parts of that scouting report are not mediocre. I remember when this was about Matt Loosen. I miss that.
