[/tweet] Yeah, they got royally screwed tonight, I didn't mean to imply otherwise. Russell's walk earlier in the game might have been even more egregious than Rizzo's AB.
This reminds me of when the Cardinals berated a young umpire after a game last year when I think literally zero calls went against them. Brett wrote an article the next day about it.
Send Bryant and Rizzo on vacation for the next three days. They were likely getting hit even if Holliday ended up being fine, but I'd put the chances at roughly 100% one of them gets hit between the shoulders and head now that he broke his thumb.
hahaha, if his stance influenced the call that much, you would think Duke would've gotten that strike called just off the outside corner the pitch before.
I thought Chapman looked kind of gimpy after slipping during the first batter. I mean he was still throwing 103 mph after that, but that might be something to keep an eye on.
I think he might be done starting vs lefties in NL parks. Against righties though I assume his defense will keep him in the lineup since Soler and Baez can get exposed vs those pitchers.
So if Jesse Rogers' article that includes quotes from La Stella is correct that he and the FO aren't upset with each other, can't we just DFA Coghlan now and forget this ever happened?
I remember Haren talking (tweeting) about how little confidence he had in the last few years because of his velocity. I can't imagine what goes through Weaver's mind when he's topping out at 83 mph. I sure as hell wouldn't walk away from $20 million either, but I'd need a daily appointment with a sports psychologist or something.
I know he makes quite a bit of money and the Angels are really bad, but I can't believe they've actually kept Weaver in the rotation to make 21, soon to be 22, starts. ERA/FIP over 5, K/9 well under 5, avg fastball velocity 82.8 mph!
