  1. The only pitcher who will be unavailable for multiple days is Butler and he's out of options. If we need another pitcher, I'd think it'd have to be Almora who gets optioned to AAA for 10 days or whatever the number is.
  2. I have a lot of feelings about that last inning but god damn I'm glad baseball is back
  3. Willson showed last year he is able to accurately lob to first base. For the love of god take something off of these throws
  4. TLS is gonna end up a fan favorite. Dude can hit and seems to have a great sense of humor. (and he's a small white guy)
  5. Huh, I guess my assumption that Cishek is the 8th inning guy is incorrect
  6. I feel like I never saw Alzolay's name in a box score this spring.
  7. I guess I'm mildly interested to see Butler as a reliever full time. Maybe he can consistently sit 96 mph or something. I'd assume he's pretty much locked into the last bullpen spot. My guess is if Strop is ready on opening day, we go with 8 relievers; if he's on the DL, Bourjos or Zagunis take his spot until he's ready.
  8. I enjoy Benetti but I feel like he could really wear on a partner over a full season. A bit of a ball-buster.
  9. Hasn't Brady won most of his super bowls while watching the deciding play from the sidelines at the end of the game?
  10. lol, it cracks me up how many interviews/quotes Gimenez has given since he signed his minor league deal. Dude is very self-aware.
  11. The Ohtani decision seems like a lifetime ago, and like two free agents have signed since then.
  12. How are the fans at that Brewers message board handling the idea of them shortening their window?
  13. If you can lock in Darvish+Yelich right now, I say just do it even if it does take you out of the Harper sweepstakes (which it might not). With the amount of effort the Nats, Yankees, and Dodgers will put into Bryce, I'm fine not taking his free agency into account when going after talents like Darvish and Yelich who can play here this season.
  14. I was just thinking that if we sign Darvish and need to shed some money to go after Harper (aka avoid having a $245 million payroll), Chatwood could be a decent trade candidate next offseason. I think they pretty clearly weren't expecting to sign Darvish when they got Chatwood, and I'll be surprised if Chatwood doesn't put up a good ERA this season out of Coors and in front of this defense. We'd also have Smyly, Montgomery, and Alzolay for the 5th spot barring injuries and/or trades.
  15. The Le Batard show overall is great.
  16. I think it's kind of hilarious Darvish keeps responding to sourced rumors about him on twitter.
  17. lol his twitter pic is of him mind-bleeping Carl Are any of those tweets about the Twins?
  18. You don’t not sign Harper because “you maybe can’t re-sign Bryant” 3-4 years later. Spoiler alert, we’ll be able to sign Harper and keep Bryant if we want. If he leaves it won’t be because we can’t afford him. The first part, yeah, I'm pretty sure I agree with. The second part I don't find realistic.
  19. Isn't the real fear "What if we can't re-sign Kris Bryant?" Like right now I doubt anyone is too concerned about losing Russell or Schwarber if we get Harper. And yeah, the possibility of not extending Bryant is probably worth it considering we'd have the two best players in the NL together for three years, but it's worth bringing up.
  20. It depends on if he wants to win. The Nats don’t have the resources to build a winning team a give him 1/3 or 1/2 of the entire money spent on the team. Oh come on. Their future is as bright as pretty much anyone's.
  21. Wonder what the heck is going on with Cobb. Signing him and using some of the trade pieces to get Yelich might be my favorite route at the moment. Their ownership and FO might not give a damn about the perception, but getting Happ as the lead piece, as opposed to an all-prospect return, and being able to point out they got a guy who hit 24 dongs in his rookie season could maybe help them save face a little bit. I have some reservations about "locking" into that rotation for 3+ years, but trading for good starters without a ton of red flags is hard, man. There's no point for the Orioles to move Gausman for someone like Happ, and I'm sure Theo's talked to the Rays' FO a million times over the past year, and there's been very little Archer noise. I'm good with just signing a pitcher for the last rotation spot and having Theo take advantage of the Marlins' ineptitude.
  22. That's kind of a big honor for Hendricks. Shows how much Theo thinks of him. Good for Kyle.
  23. Even though seemingly everyone who has sources is saying Cobb will come here, I am a bit surprised it hasn't actually happened yet. Like either he's really not going to give a Hickey discount and is looking for top dollar, or the Cubs are still talking trade.
