  1. As for the Fire Dusty BandWGN, here's a thread I started last year the first week of September, as the collapse began and Dusty's mentally deranged state began costing us ballgame after ballgame. It was quickly shuffled off to rants, hah-- viewtopic.php?t=13927&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=fire+baker&start=0 Based on some of the comments in this thread, I thought you might enjoy the opening post I wrote back then (boldface added by me here, not then)-- Some things never change. Fire Baker now.
  2. I started this thread last September. Nothing's changed. 3 games into a new season, and Baker is as completely clueless a nitwit as ever. I repeat my belief that we will never win a pennant until Dusty is gone. He is the worst manager in baseball. Please fire him. Please?
  3. Riggleman is available. He was a good manager, run out of town by Sosa's sideshow. Who remembers the debates from two years ago regarding the pros and cons of Showalter? He won just a couple games less than the Cubs last year with a Texas team half as talented. Our guy in AAA is pretty damn good.
  4. I hated Baker before the Cubs even hired him. He's ignorant. If you watched the Giants at all in the 90s, you know that. You can count on one hand the number of SF fans who were sorry to see his moronic butt out of town. I never wanted this stooge hired, "good with the players" and "guys want to play for Dusty", that's crap. Sure, deadbeats with no business being on a major league roster LOVE playing for Dusty, no kidding!! And to the poster earlier who brought up the NLCS, you got that right. Talk all you want about K-Gonz and Bartman, Baker cost us that series when he brought in Guthrie and later Veres, my God, I still have nightmares. But hey dude, that's the break, dude, these veterans can play dude. What a nitwit.
  5. OK, I have a question that came up when thinking about the above reply....lol What is the status of a guy that was a Rule 5 pick away from you, and then gets returned, i.e., Hagerty? Do you have to go through all this again next year, and make the same kind of choice? I'm guessing the answer is yes, but I don't know.
  6. Should have added, out of Kelton, Dubois, Rohlicek, Koronka and Vazquez, I'd be shocked if more than one of those are still here and/or will be protected come this winter. That's four new spots right there. Plus, Borowski, Remlinger and hopefully, finally, Macias will be gone next year. So there will be spots open. Nic Jackson isn't still on the 40-man, is he?
  7. Please. There's no way the Cubs will expose Marshall, particularly after the Sisco situation this year. They'll protect him, even if it means dumping a utility player or bit reliever at the ML level. I think the guys you absolutely must protect are Dope, Pie, Petrick and Marshall. Maybe Murton. Maybe Hill. Maybe maybe Brownlie and Connolly. Though that's now 8 names. If Brownlie doesn't show something good this year, the Cubs should move him in a mid-season trade, since Hendry is likely to be active this July anyway. I do hope they stick with Connolly though, along with Bear Bay, they were my two favorite underdogs in the system, and with Bay gone, I'd like to at least have one of the two still around.
  8. Haha, I never come to social, so I didn't know this is where the Bulls were being discussed. What a fun bunch of guys, I'm loving this team! Go Bulls!!! Gordon for MVP. Skiles for Coach of the Year.
  9. Speaking of Hill, the vid clip I'd love to see was from a game in 78 I believe it was. Kingman hit a moon shot to left-center that landed on Kenmore Avenue, bounced a couple times, and ended up all the way down the block. Now THAT was the longest HR I ever saw at Wrigley.
  10. You know, listening to that clip is a record for history of just what an annoying simp Chip Caray is. I really really hope WGN doesn't re-up with that deadbeat.
  11. We never wanted Jenkins, he's just as injury-prone as Alou. Beltran and Ordonez remain our top two targets to replace Moises.
