  1. John Henry said Theo is all but gone and a nice Geovany Soto discussion is basically what has gone down.
  2. Red Sox hang up first. Soriano has a far worse contract than anyone else mentioned. At least Carl Crawford still has some value.
  3. Yeah they should be falling over themselves to hand over young power pitching because he failed to live up to the obligations of an overslot draft pick. He was probably the best reliever on the team in the second half...and he's clearly still growing as a pitcher. I'd rather not give up major league talent. I think it's dumb to do so. For Theo? You're crazy. Agreed. Shark was awesome for most of last year but fact of the matter is, he's an overpaid reliever. I'd give him up for Theo in a heartbeat.
  4. No but he calls a better game than Geo. But as I said, he is so worthless at offense that he doesn't deserve to wear a Major League uniform. What prospects do you think you can get for a 29 year old inconsistent catcher?
  5. How about Geo Soto too? Hm... no thanks? He's 29 years old and he isn't good behind the plate or at the plate. He hit .202 with RISP last year in 114 at-bats. He has the 7th highest WAR among catches between 2008-2011. I am find with that for my starting catcher. Not a great year last year and rather inconsistent but still a solid catcher. Oh and he's improved behind the plate. Geo had a very, very good 2008 and a very good 2010 and a very bad 2009 and a bad 2011. He's the definition of inconsistent. And as I said, he's 29. He doesn't have that much more room to improve.
  6. How about Geo Soto too? Hm... no thanks? He's 29 years old and he isn't good behind the plate or at the plate. He hit .202 with RISP last year in 114 at-bats. Why do you believe he isn't good behind the plate? Is it because that is the only reason you can justify Koye Hill being played? He didn't hit well in any situation last year but he did the year prior. I'm willing to believe that Soto will bounce back in 2012. Koyie Hill is better than Geo behind the plate there's no doubt about it but Koyie is so worthless at the plate that it completely overshadows it. Geovany Soto is going to be 29 years old by the start of next season. If the Red Sox want him and only him for Theo (they aren't going to want him), then you make that deal and call it a day. I'd rather give Castillo a chance behind home plate anyways.

  8. i would want to distance myself from that deal as well, that was a meatball contract. i don't know if theo was trying to be ironically funny with that signing, but it wasn't good. A deal like that would never happen outside of Boston and New York where they have money to spend like that (yeah I know, Soriano). Crawford was very good the year before though. It's easy to say what a horrible deal it was now because Crawford played like s*** last year. But he hit .307 the previous season with 90 RBI's, 19 home runs, 47 stolen bases, and a .356 OBP.
  9. So if Theo is such an idiot, why do we have to give up anything for him? Because he's under contract with the Red Sox. I should rephrase, why should we give them anything of value for Theo if he's the only 'idiot' in that organization to sign Crawford to the deal. Forget that Crawford was a very good player with Tampa Bay before this season. Not saying he was worth that contract but the Red Sox have the financial ability to overspend on players. A comment like this should hurt some of the Red Sox leverage though.
  10. So if Theo is such an idiot, why do we have to give up anything for him?
  11. Then what are we? The Cubs look like the Patriots compared to the Red Sox. The Cubs really aren't that inept anymore. I think Tom is doing a great job at running the franchise especially after Hendry was fired. The Cubs were more stupid than douchebags.
  12. You can understand why Theo wants out after listening to that John Henry interview. What an inept organization full of douchebags.
  13. I'm not Theo at all. Hopefully we can work out a deal for a lesser prospect or two but if it comes down to Jackson, you can't let that get in the way of getting a GM like Theo. Giving up Jackson is worst case.
  14. I'd give up Jackson for Theo in a heartbeat. Even though players never get traded for GM's, that's a good deal if you think about it. Brett Jackson is a nice, young player but is he that special?
  15. Calm down people. Remember, Boston named their new GM today according to reports. It's all about what we have to give up at this point.
  16. Oh God if we lose out on Epstein I'll go nuts.
  17. Here's Kraplan with more on how Ricketts convinced THEO to join the Cubs: http://www.wgnradio.com/shows/gregjarrett/wgnam-dave-kaplan-inside-tom-ricketts-theo-epstein-101311,0,4075409.mp3file
  18. Feels good to finally care about the Cubs again and this is going to be an exciting few years.
