  1. Ahahaha. Now you think I'm Kaplan but I happen to love Z and A-Ram. You guys are too much.
  2. I have seen the term thrown around by a select few on this board with regards to Cubs fans in general. Pretty broad brush to paint with, no? And this has nothing to do with Kaplan. And if Kaplan was a racist like some on this board toe the line on, what the hell is he posing with a (gulp) Pujols jersey for? Because he's not some overt Klan member; he just lets the inherent racism of our society color his opinions of players he doesn't like. He despised Todd Hundley. Of course, he was hispanic, so you might be on to something. I'll make this as clear as I can: Kaplan's "racism" stems from his repeated fallback to stereotypical criticisms of non-white players (lazy, doesn't care, gives up, etc.). Todd Hundley.
  3. The "hey, he didn't like some white people too" defense. Oh, so it was just players who were not performing? Wow, welcome to fans of any team in any sport.
  4. Clearly, Kaplan has no use for hispanics as the photo below illustrates. http://www.csnchicago.com/common/medialib/158/402378.jpg The "some of his best friends are Hispanic" defense. Man, you really must know Dave Kaplan well. All you have is your very flawed opinion to draw from.

  7. Some of the media's best friends were non-white. But, but, what about Cubs fans? These no good black players I mentioned were clearly hated by Cubs fans throughout their careers. Oh, wait.

  9. It's fun shooting down idiotic theories and suggestions of racism by people who have no clue about what they're talking about.
  10. Ernie Banks Fergie Jenkins Billy Williams Lee Smith Andre Dawson Now, tell me, how many in this bunch were ripped by the media and fans for being lazy? How many were the target of racism by Cubs fans? If the answer is none of them, could it be that they, you know, actually performed and were great teammates? Na, couldn't be.
  11. Todd Hundley was the last white scapegoat in a long line of scapegoats. That's exactly my point. Nobody's saying race is the only factor. I'm simply saying it's a contributing factor. White players get the "scrappy, good clubhouse guy" label a little more quickly, black players get to be "natural athletes" unless they are too crazy like Milton Bradley, and Hispanic players pretty much default to "lazy and selfish" if anything goes wrong with their game. Aramis, Z and Sosa were on the receiving end of many standing ovations from Cubs fans throughout the years at Wrigley. They were embraced and loved because they performed. The skin color has nothing to do with it.
  12. Is Todd Hundley and Dave Veres brown? On the other side of town, Adam Dunn, Bobby Jenks last year? The race card you guys play is laughable. Perhaps fans/media boo and whale on players because of lack of performance?
  13. The bottom line is that Z has value and it is certainly not out of the question for him to become a 15 game winner again for another team or the Cubs. The Cubs were able to deal Milton Bradley and all of Baseball knew of his problems. The contract is not an issue here, it's finding a suitor.
  14. I don't think it matters. Ricketts has probably told Theo and Jed to do whatever they need to do to make this team a contender. If it means eating 75% of a contract, they probably have the ability to do it. Furthermore, this probably means Soriano's days are very numbered. You're talking like they have to get rid of Zambrano and Soriano to contend. Meaning if Theo and Jed feel Z and Sori need to go, they can do what they need to do to make it happen. If you do trade them and don't get anything of value in return be it cash or players in return, explain how it makes the team better, and don't even think about the phrase "clubhouse cancer" That's why I said if Theo and Jed feel Sori and Z should get dealt and they have a deal in place THEY feel makes the team better, then they will make it. If the deal does not make the Cubs better they will not make the trade.

That wasn't the case with Hendry? I will ask you the same question. My guess is that Ricketts did not want Hendry making any more trades being that he was getting ready to launch him and probably did not trust him to get max value on any deal. If that is the case, he would be correct.

  21. Perhaps he (and many others) saw Sosa for exactly what he was. A cheat, a me before the team player and a guy who was allegedly linked to steroids. Maybe the forum was not proper but it was 100% accurate. Stupid me first guy getting on base all the time and hitting the ball over the fence. Welllll. http://media2.cardboardconnection.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/SammySosaCorkedBatPSADNA.jpg
  22. No, it's because he's hispanic and everyone who dislikes him is a racist. :hello:

  24. You don't have to like a player just because he was good and you were a child during his playing days. I promise. But, but, Dawson isn't white.
  25. So you have arguably the greatest second baseman of all time that played for our team, made the HOF, played the game as hard as anyone and yet all you do is blast the guy? He is easily on the top 10 list of all time Cubs players and you hate this guy? Wow! Listen... I'm obviously trolling you with some of this stuff, but this is 100% honest. I never saw any of that and couldn't possibly care less about it. All I know is the guy has been an [expletive] ever since he retired. The fact that he was a great player doesn't change any of that. Sammy Sosa is one of the greatest hitters in Cubs history (if not the greatest) and one of the best in the history of baseball. But Sandberg had nothing better to do at his HOF speech than to take a cheap shot at him. What's that about? Really? REALLY? Sosa was a cheat and was generally disliked by many of his teammates. The boombox incident tells you what his teammates really thought of him.
