    Probably, but that speaks to how terrible our pitching talent is. Indeed. Unless they acquire some close to major league ready arms via some trades, it's going to be a while before the Cubs have anybody ready to contribute at the top of the rotation. Currently at Mesa is Paul Blackburn and Dillon Maples, who finally threw last night. Yet to appear are Pierce Johnson and Duane Underwood. That's four. Outside of Ben Wells, who is recovering from TJS, that's it. Unless, Whitenack or McNutt somehow return to form. Jose Arias, Tayler Scott, and James Pugliese at Boise are all solid arms. Jose Rosario and Starling Peralta at Peoria as well. Whitenack should be given a bit of a pass coming of TJS. Yes, they're solid but not projected to be TOR. Whitenack is being given a pass for that reason exactly. Was just listing good arms not in rookie-ball.

    Because Valbuena and LaHair do not deserve to play, especially against a left handed starting pitcher. I think he meant why is Baker playing RF and Mather playing 3rd. Mather is brutal at 3rd.

    Alex Meyer is better than whatever the Dodgers are reportedly offering I agree, and can't see them parting with him for Dempster. I don't see Nationals as a fit at all unless he's on the table.
