  1. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/01/the-cardinals-and-yadier-molina-finalize-their-deal/ LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. @BleacherNation: Take it with a HUGE grain of salt, but the buzz is that the Cubs' bid on Darvish was very large. Might not be enough, though.
  3. http://i.imgur.com/J4EWe.jpg Lol isn't that Yao Ming? That's a chinese reference for a japanese player. No wonder he thinks Americans will pay him 20M / year haha.
  4. Did our offer to Pujols actually come out? How long and how much? Well, Rosenthal came out and said that Pujols had 3 offers over 200 million. And he named the Cubs as "in the running". So I just put 2 and 2 together. But now that I think about it, those 3 teams over 200 million were the Marlins, Angels, and Cardinals. So I take back what I said. Our offer was probably closer to 5 for 150 or 6 for 180.
  5. I don't really understand all of the bitching. Does anyone honestly believe that Colvin or Lemahieu were going to be good for this team? They serve no purpose in our new philosophy. Ian Stewart isn't great, but at least he has a potential in our offense. If he sucks, we can call up Vitters. If Vitters sucks, we will explore the 3B of the future next offseason. Really not a big deal IMO. It's not like we traded an important prospect or named Stewart a 10 year starter. Low risk / High reward move like DeJesus. He obviously has the ability to hit the big fly. Let's see what Sveum can develop out of him.
  6. How can we afford Pujols but not Fielder? That doesn't make any sense to me. We offered Pujols 200 million at the same position.
  7. Here is the link for the Live Video stream at MLB.com http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?topic_id=6350584 Starts in 5 minutes!
  8. I'd LOVE to have that. Me too! For selfish reasons though lol. I'm a Yount myself. He is my cousin or something like that. But I've always respected him as a player and coach, not just because of the name on his jersey. But the poster above is correct. He is very busy with his motorsports team and Robin-ade. Although I would love to have him on the Cubbies staff if he had the time!
  9. I would also like to post the introduction to Rosenthal's new article. It made me laugh out loud. Another beautiful snippet from the article: LOL. Burn. You can read the whole article here: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Boston-Red-Sox-Theo-Epstein-Terry-Francona-managerial-search-not-going-according-to-plan-111611. Not Rosenthal's biggest fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one :D . Dedicated to John Henry and Larry Lucchino. Suck it, Gill!
  10. Looks like a done deal boys! via Jon Heyman
  11. Theo is a better boss than Lucchino. I liked Sveum before. Now I love it. We just pissed off the Sox even more, got the most qualified manager, and made a big step in acquiring Prince Fielder. Yeah, now that we got Sveum, we now only need $160 million to get Prince Fielder. Lol I don't know about that. Probably not a penny less than 200 million. But we won't have to worry about random teams trying to make a big splash like the Orioles or Nationals. He has been Sveum's biggest supporter. If we can get him for a penny less than 200 million, we gotta pull the trigger.
  12. You guys should go read what they are saying at SOSH. Pure gold :D Theo is a better boss than Lucchino. I liked Sveum before. Now I love it. We just pissed off the Sox even more, got the most qualified manager, and made a big step in acquiring Prince Fielder.
  13. He just answered one of my questions. Here is the question and answer.
  14. Bruce Levine is doing a live chat on ESPN right now. I found this very interesting.
  15. LOL. This is almost as funny as the Ventura hiring. They can kiss Pujols goodbye. All they had to do was promote Oqendo to keep Albert. And raise his offer a little bit. They aren't raising his offer by a single penny, and then they hire Mike Matheny as manager!? Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
  16. Levine is calling Alomar the "front-runner". WTF? http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/_/id/7184/alomar-may-be-cubs-front-runner
  17. As much as I have been starting to like Maddux, Tito is still the clear #1 on my list. He has been since day 1. I would be ECSTATIC to reunite the old Boston family. Why not? They all won 2 world series together. Francona was a key part in both of those. Not to mention that he is the only candidate with any real experience.
  18. Not to mention that he completely snubbed Cherington and the Sox. That put him over the top for me. Wouldn't even give them an interview. I love that. I'm sure Theo does too.
  19. LOL what a clown. I like this guy already. I'm on board. As long as he can bring us CJ Wilson! Garza/Wilson/Dempster/Zambrano could be a brutal 1-4 with Mike's ability to squeeze every ounce of ability out of his pitchers. He is the only interviewed candidate so far that I'm excited about. Mackanin, Sveum, and Alomar don't do anything for me. Set up an interview with Dave Martinez, or lock it up with Maddux.
  20. Welcome to the board, but you're going to have to change your name... Thanks for the welcome! I actually wanted to change my name anyways, but I wasn't sure how to do it. Why do I need to change it though?
  21. Regardless of our new manager, we are going to be big players for both CJ Wilson and Prince Fielder. I don't see how we wouldn't be the favorites to land them if we signed their mentors to manage the team. Hiring Maddux makes us the favorites to land Wilson, just like hiring Sveum would make us the favorites to land Fielder. I would never sign a manager based on his ability to bring in a single free agent. That being said, it would be a really nice perk with either candidate in this situation.
  22. Although Tito and Martinez were my top two choices, I will take a Maddux + CJ Wilson package deal over anything else. Mike Maddux wasn't my favorite candidate. But I really liked what he did with the Rangers rotation. I would be very interested to see what he could do with guys like Samardzija, Cashner, and Marmol. With Maddux pulling out of the Sox interview, I believe that Cherington will make a strong early push for Sveum. Without Sveum, the Sox would have to turn to a wildcard like Alomar. I think we will end up with Maddux. Which could be a great thing for us. I would love his impact to sign big arms in free agency. I have to believe that landing Maddux will make us the favorites to land CJ Wilson.
  23. I bought a $300 Mitchell and Ness 1984 Ryno throwback from Wrigleyville Sports less than two weeks ago. Doesn't change the fact that I believe he would be in over his head here as the manager. Or anywhere else for that matter. I want somebody with MLB experience. Tito please! If not Tito, give Dave Martinez a chance. Being a Ryno fan shouldn't have anything to do with this. I love Michael Jordan. Doesn't mean that I would want him coaching the Bulls... some fans are just idiots.
  24. It's about the same size as TalkSox, activity wise. I prefer lurking over at TalkSox instead of SOSH. SOSH is mostly a bunch of homers. For example, the Jackson stuff you were talking about. For a while, they were going on and on about how they deserved Castro. Don't listen to those idiots lol. The highest valued package I've heard from a legitimate source was Jay Jackson + cash. Which sounds about right.
  25. I'm with you brother. I'm still pretty drunk though lol. I got woken up today with the official news, and it still hasn't sunk in yet.
