  1. Having a conscience battle with myself over my reaction to this...
  2. Umm... The Mets are the home team. Point being? They get the last at-bat in the 9th? I was kind of joking around at the pathetic lineup they trot out, however they did score 7 runs so I guess it was misplaced. Cool, I'm sorry our bullpen destroys any ability I have to detect light hearted humor and sarcasm.

  4. Why is Marmol up? :pours himself a Jack and Diet: I can't handle this team.
  5. I have a good feeling about Gorz tonight!
  6. 97 can get you a K if the batter's not looking for it. If he is looking for it - so will the outfielder be as he watches it fly over his head. The opposition doesn't get a lot of scratch hits off Gregg. He's a one trick pony that can fool some of the batters some of the time. Heilman has comparable k/ip numbers, perhaps you'd prefer he gets the ball to close? Glad you're comfortable with his contributions. 1) Cubs are 46-3 when leading after nine innings, so Gregg's obviously not cost the cubs too many losses in those situations above what you could name for any other closer 2) Gregg vs Heilman? Really? Let's see...the k/9ip is 9.24 vs 7.69 - a pretty significant difference in "stuff". Second, the k/bb rate is 2.43 for gregg vs 1.43 for Heilman. Do you want to try again? You should be really good when leading after 9 innings.
  7. You no longer amuse me. http://img175.exs.cx/img175/5426/mkii67dw.png =D>
  8. You know damn well that's not true. There's always PLENTY of chance that a team IN FIRST PLACE will make the playoffs. I'd save your fingers the work trying to argue that. You aren't going to get anywhere with this one.
  9. :-({|= You're optimism is overwhelming, gonna need you to tone it down a bit.
  10. /thread imo
  11. Although he has been a heartattack this year, I'm nowhere near ready to give up on him yet. He was an all start last year and arguably a top 5 bullpen guy in the entire league. Something is going on with his mechanics/head or some combination of the two. Maybe somehow it's still residual effect from the WBC or maybe Lou/Larry should dust out the ole' video machine and compare arm angles/release points from this year to last. I understand the value of trading him 'high', but this guy isn't just potential we are hoping pans out as he has proven he can be one of the very best pitchers in the majors. We just need to figure out how to get back to that point.
  12. I'm not sure, if this should be a separate thread, in the game thread, this thread etc so forgive my ignorance. Just heard on 670 that Gregg has a 'tired arm' and likely won't pitch again tonight.
  13. Every Wells start I think it's the start that he's due for 2.1ip 6ER 1k 3 walks and it just isn't happening. And apparently my praising of Harang's badness made him conjure up talent from 2 years ago..or our offense is that unbelievably inconsistent...
  14. This Amstel Light commercial gets me excited for hockey season everytime
  15. He never used to be, though. I always wanted the Cubs to trade for him at the deadline. He was one of my favorite non-Cub pitchers for a while. He was great until Dusty starting forcing him to throw 120+ pitches every start. He's thrown 120 or more pitches three times under dusty. Once last year and twice this year. He went Rich Hill on Dusty. I don't follow the Reds close, but it seems like it is not a glaring health issue, just confidence/moxie however you want to call it I realize Rich Hill was never as good as Harang in his prime, but seems sort of a valid comparison.
  16. We should all thank Harang for being terrible.
  17. 8-[ Looking everywhere online and listening to 670..haven't heard a thing yet.
  18. Agreed. In the grand scheme of injuries, if we HAD to pick someone on the current MLB roster to go on the DL, Reed wouldn't be your last choice
  19. per David SHOEster Sam Fuld inc.
  20. Oh Andy White. If you could even hit .250 with a 330 OBP you'd be playing everyday.
  21. We keep waiting for Wells to start getting smoked, but it's still not happening. Maybe we really found something here, i know too early to tell, but he's been so solid
  22. Hurt his foot with a foul ball in the 2nd while batting is the speculation currently
  23. What's the link to that message board again? http://gatewayredbirds.com/forum/index.php
  24. It's quite nice to be able to sit back at work and enjoy this game virtually stress free. I can get used to this =D>
  25. Ugh, Santo already talking about we're at least .500 this series. Please stop him from talking Pat.
