  1. I honestly believe the both did. I don't really know how anybody can try and pretend Hendry did not. Though the question was directed at me, I'll defer my response to Goony, since he beat me to it and I would have basically said the same thing. yes, yes, and yes...it was hendry...i am sure he and lou have discussions, a GM would be a complete fool to not have an open dialogue with the manager of their on field product, but to insinuate that hendry didn't want to do it is absurd... hendry just took a big risk this offseason and it probably isn't going going to work out the way he had envisioned, at least it hasn't yet hendry took a risk and it didn't pan out, but how can you honestly believe hendry would stake his reputation and livelihood in the hands of someone else?
  2. my dream is actually to become a major league GM, but my dream today has been shattered in a thousand million pieces because I would just be a puppet on a string.
  3. Worse, if one believes the scouting reports. wow, that is scary
  4. could fox in right possibly be as bad as ward or old man cliffy?
  5. Im not, but Shark probably is, and since, he has a full NTC, thats the only guy who needs to be against it. why does it really matter to him though? oh, and good lord, thanks jim for handing a a draftee a bloody NTC...MORAN! The only way Shark wasn't going to play football was to get an NTC. And I think he wanted it because Chicago is close to home or something. i know it doesn't really matter at this point, but christ, hendry should have passed and just let the kid play bloody football or sign with another team i think a NTC to a young man who has never played in the majors is ridiculously absurd

  7. is everyone against the idea of putting shark in a deal?
  8. meh...give him a try...if he can out hit his defense...the we score might as well try, you know?
  9. Yea real highlight losing your ace starter for a suspension sour grapes...enjoy the moment already
  10. hahahahha that was the highlight of the season so far! \:D/
  11. routine day off, same with wilson
  12. Why did they make the change? Freel was limpin back to first after that awkard rounding of the bag...maybe he hurt himself. Good, now they'll be forced to make a trade. Or more likely, bring up Doug Deeds or something stupid like that. naw, not when you have the genie in a bottle talent/versatility of fontenot
  13. the team should be renamed to the Chicago Injuries
  14. 8? jesus. i'm in 4 and my 2 non-money teams get neglected a lot....i cant even imagine 8 it's actually quite a lot, and the funny thing is that the only league i really care has my crappiest team i think i will only be going with 4 next season
  15. seven of my eight fantasy teams thank you! \:D/
  16. lol, who cares the all-star game is a joke and a half
  17. can someone please explain to me what super 2 status is?
  18. lou can't get mad anymore because he is round
  19. Having Johnson on this team would provide company for Bradley on the DL for 60-80 games. Also, I mentioned tweaking the deal with prospects if necessary. right, but d lee isn't exactly the superman of health anymore why give up more for cantu than lee? why not just get johnson instead?
  20. i think everyone is missing the big point here, talking about win totals it is not about win totals, at least in so much as you have a good enough squad to crack postseason play, it is about putting together a collective group of athletes that maximize their output as well as their teammates output looking back at previous WS winners, for the most part, those teams were constructed to do just that... this team, while fielding good players, isn't put together quite right... it has shown in 07, in 08, and then hendry really garbled it up and we are currently seeing those results right now sure, hendry has done an okay job of constructing a good/competitive squad, but not a championship caliber team IMO that is why i cringed when he got his extension and why i will cringe again this offseason when he isn't released but, hey, i am just one man, with my one little ole opinion
  21. there sure are a lot of high horses galloping around this joint
  22. still...cain is way too big of a chip for dlee...sorry if you had said sanchez, then i would be more likely to believe in an actual possibility of the trade happening however, the marlins have kid playing the outfield right now...can't think of his name...who is really a second baseman...so...they are more likely than not looking to move uggla, which has been tossed around a bit since last season i believe ETA: you and i also differ greatly on your last thought...i would love to have nick johnson on this team instead of dlee right now, he is cheaper...and while his health is an issue...a little bit better bet to more productive currently
  23. lol...it sure does sum up the past two seasons oh and for the record, i have wanted hendry gone for quite some time now his contracts are flat out ridiculous
  24. fat jokes aside, which are quite enjoyable...maybe, just maybe, what hendry is doing isn't what is best for this team/organization maybe someone else can do a better overall job i don't think anyone is suggesting that getting rid of hendry will make the team win the world series right now, but why wait to get a new line of thought and approach in this organization? First of all, the biggest criticism against Hendry is that he has made a shambles of a 97-win team. On the other hand, it was Hendry who assembled the 97-win team. Can his moves this offseason be questioned? Certainly. On the other hand, what good would a change right now do for the 2009 team? Probably nothing. It would signal a panic to the team. It would in essence send the message that the bosses don't think the team can win this year as assembled by the GM. The new GM isn't likely going to make any changes that Hendry wouldn't make. He's going to still be bound by Lee's contract. He's still going to have the same bullpen options. He's still going to be bound by the same payroll restrictions. Now, if the idea is to go ahead and rebuild for the future, then making a change could be supported. If it's a reactionary move to a 7-game losing streak, it's not productive in the least. There's also little a new GM will do during the season that would change the future direction. The only key thing that a new GM could do to change the future would be what they could get during a fire sale...and even with a new GM, I don't think that happens, or they could impact the future by what is given up to try to get back into contention. If Hendry is to be replaced, it is best to do so at the end of the season. At that point, the powers can better evaluate his job in light of a full season and not just a quarter of it. And back to the fat jokes...hell, I have plenty of them...but when they're used to show that Hendry must not be doing his job, they actually weaken your stance rather than improve it. It's pure propaganda. I mean, do you really think that just because someone is overweight they must be lazy and not good at his job? From all indications, Hendry is an extremely hard worker...in fact, workaholic would be a good descriptor of him. Now, you may not like the decisions he makes, but it is completely false to assume he's just sitting around eating cake and laughing about how bad this team is. That kind of attitude whether in jest or not could not be further from fact. So, if you like filling posts with falsehoods, be my guest...but it discredits the rest of your ideas. Because if someone blatantly uses lies to further an agenda, I assume they may play loosely with all facts. wow...you must enjoy looking pretty far down your nose at people eh? so, now because someone makes jokes it discredits their ideas and thoughts!? unreal also...these are all grow up men...i don't think they are going to start freaking out because their GM gets fired... another thing that firing a GM midseason does allow is a different draft...just a thought...albeit an obviously discredited one
  25. yeah, this trade is ridiculously lopsided in the favor of the teams not giving up the best piece of the trade - cain this is almost as bad as the trade i read on MLBtraderumors yesterday... wait for it lincecum and sandoval for Big Papi, Julio Lugo, Brad Penny and Michael Bowden
