    According to the Chicago Tribune's sources, the Cubs and Angels may be in trade talks involving Derrek Lee. The Tribune called the sources "excellent," whatever that means. The Angels obviously lost their starting first baseman, Kendry Morales, for the season when he broke his leg in a home run celebration, so they could be motivated to make a move. The only remaining question is if they would assume the money still owed Lee. The Cubs owe him about $9 million over the remainder of the season, after which he will be a free agent. Lee is batting just .232/.339/.366 on the season. Source: Chicago Tribune

    Andrew Cashner-S-Cubs May. 29 - 1:19 pm et Baseball Prospectus' Kevin Goldstein reports that the Cubs may recall RHP Andrew Cashner from Triple-A on Monday. Cashner had recently moved to the bullpen for Triple-A Iowa, so it's a good bet that the Cubs will keep him there when they do call him up. Randy Wells' horrid start yesterday really taxed the Cubs' bullpen, so this move could be a temporary one, or perhaps the front office has decided that their first-round pick from 2008 has nothing left to prove at Triple-A.     Bob Howry-R-Diamondbacks May. 17 - 1:27 pm et Diamondbacks released RHP Bob Howry. Not a great showing from the right-handed setup man in Arizona. Howry inked a one-year, $2 million contract this offseason -- and will probably get to keep all of it -- but allowed a ridiculous 17 earned runs in 20 1/3 innings for the Diamondbacks this season. He packed his things Monday. Still, we'd bet that his 1.15 WHIP from last year will land him a shot elsewhere. I think we should bring back batting practice Bob, and end this damn Z bullpen crap already.

    Wow. I was at work when I received a text from my friend saying Castro hit a three run jack in his first at bat. I thought he was yanking my chain, but I then saw the highlight! I hope he is the real deal, and we have a jewel at short for years to come!
