  1. On Baseball Savant, go to Statcast Search https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/statcast_search And you can play around in there with locations in the zone and stuff like "all swings" and "swings & misses." There aren't actual stats, but you can search for whatever and calculate it yourself.
  2. I really don't care who the culprit is. I think it's just something weird going on with him. He's seeing more pitches in the zone -- probably because he's hitting .085. But the BB% is still really fluky. It's not like he's up there hacking away like Javy. Regardless, I don't think he's looking for zones in any quadrants more than he's ever been or that pitchers know how to attack him or anything like that. He just horsefeathering sucks right now. It doesn't have to be more than that.
  3. Funny how you were one of the guys who said not to blame struggles on Mallee but you're pounding the Chili blame drum every game. Rizzo is his own worst enemy right now. He refuses to swing at outside pitches and has like 2 quadrants he's looking for pitches in. Pitchers know this and get ahead in the count with low and away pitches he just stares at instead of hammering oppo. He gets into non-favorable counts constantly. He's had an abysmal approach at the plate. You say Chili is pressing our guys to become oppo singles hitters and Rizzo is most definitely not trying to do that at all. Once again, you have no idea what you are talking about. Rizzo's BB% is incredibly fluky. His First-pitch strike % is 58%. Career average? 58%. He's swinging at 66% of pitches in the zone. Career average? 66%. He's even being more discerning than usual, swinging at 26% of pitches out of the zone, which is well lower than it's ever been. And it has nothing to do with him taking pitches on the outside. From 2015 through 2017, he swung at 65.5% of pitches on the outer third. This year, he's swung at 71.8%. You don't have to create some dumb narrative for everything. Sometimes guys just struggle. He's changed nothing about his approach. He's the same guy. He's just hitting it like horsefeathers.
  4. supposedly happened trying to catch Fowler's GW HR on Sunday night That play gave me a concussion too after I gave myself the world's hardest facepalm.
  5. As long as none of the new Cub Babies come out of the womb throwing bats into the crowd, I don't think his teammates are going to care very much.
  6. We really horsefeathers up this weekend against them, but they really aren’t all that good. All it did was give the BFIB false hope Just like last year, it will make it all the sweeter.
  7. cubs bringing back john lackey confirmed http://i.imgur.com/gqsDmD9.gif
  8. He also rates positively in UZR, and BP's FRAA. And he comes in even in Statcast's Outs Above Average. If he can be an average left fielder, or even close to it, he'll be just fine out there. I still think he looks completely lost out there sometimes, but it's working out fine. horsefeathers defense anyway. Give me the dongs.
  9. Pass. Russell is going to be fine. And that's way too much to give up for a rental.
  10. I'll always appreciate Tseng for showing us the power of Mad Men.
  11. this is way more tongue in cheek than the rest of these loons (aka mainly dextermorgan) but i still wanna ding you for it Ding me. Another L isn't going to hurt me now.
  12. so should we post cardinals pics here then Unless it's a picture of Dexter celebrating the World Series championship, no, take it to another thread.
  13. This thread is for good things. Go start a fatalism thread.
  14. Please share with me anything good that has happened to you since we recorded the final out in Game 7 to prove that out didn't transfer us into the Hellworld alternate timeline in which everything is bad.
  15. And Javy had to hit that homer to get my hopes up. Couldn't have been scripted any better.
  16. Why do I care about this stupid sport so much?
  17. I mean seriously, how does that happen? Good lord nothing is going right. A complete train wreck.
