  1. That was his first HR given up this year and didn’t seem to have a problem with them the last two years, what am I missing? It’s not even his worst post of the day. He wants to trade Javier Báez to make space for THE Zack Short. You're telling me you don't want to trade in the 25-year-old hitting .290/.326/.567 in the majors while being an above-average infielder defensively and one of the best base runners in the league for a 23-year-old hitting .236/.358/.431 in AA?
  2. I was at the game in the DSL when Marquez gave up the homer. It was a blooper and all three outfielders ran into each other and it took 20 men to untangle them while the ball was rolling around in the outfield for an inside-the-park homer.
  3. Yeah, both Rizzo and Bryant have missed time and neither has played up to their potential. For that matter, Willson probably hasn't either -- at least in the power department. Granted, you could easily see some guys sliding back, like Baez and Almora. But if some of these leaps and returns from the dead are real, then a normal Bryzzo would make this offense really crazy good.
  4. Cubs' non-pitchers on the year are hitting .277/.358/.447.
  5. Just get the rotation going right. I think they will. Too many innings of them being good to think they are doomed forever. There aren't any truly horrifying trends, such as loss of velocity. And most of them haven't been horrible, just a little off and not good enough. If Yu gets healthy, that will help a ton. The bullpen is going to be fine now that Morrow is back and Carl will soon join them. This offense is going to crush teams in the second half, though. Way too deep. Way too good. The dongs are coming. The situational hitting already has. The base running is excellent. The defense is too. #wearegood
  6. Like 20% the Twins offense being better than you expect, 50% the conditions, 30% the Cubs pitching being bad (basically Chatwood and Maples) Also Duensing. And they've had some fortunate sequencing -- whether it's been Joe Mauer hitting homers and doubles with the bases juiced and two outs, or Chatwood pitching decently and then completely unraveling. Also Joe leaving him and probably Maples in a little too long.
  7. Probably depends on how you weight Bob Howry's fantastic first two years versus his awful third year. And Brandon Morrow's ability to take off his pants.
  8. Yeah, we aren't doing scoring, either. Seal Boy could finish it off on the mound.
  9. In all seriousness, see how much more fun this is? Just leave them be. This is what they've been working to.
  10. If it’s that easy... Joe, use your best pitchers in tie games.
  11. Almost like this team is good, Duker and a team full of good hitters was eventually going to normalize with that RISP nonsense. Almost like every dumb narrative is just that.
