  1. You said that as if it's for sure true. I'm not sure it is. Yeah, that's kinda what Kyle was saying earlier in this thread. And he is looking prescient. There is definitely some law of diminishing returns stuff that goes on when you are this good. Why mortgage the future when you are already so damn good? The playoffs are a crap shoot. But it's nice to have the best team you can possibly assemble for it. But we pretty much already do have that. What's another good player gonna do, besides take away a spot from our bevy of existing good players? Some small things here and there to patch things up are fine. Strengthen the pen, maybe. We already have bench bats. An injury could change things. But, we're pretty much set. So, we either make a big splash on a long-term piece or just add a few minor parts here and there.
  2. I know I had a discussion before the season about us getting off to a stupid hot start to the season, kinda like this, and how it would be so awesome if we could start off like 25-5 or something and be the Baseball Warriors. I don't remember if this was in real life or on here, though. I couldn't find anything after a cursory search, though. Does anyone remember us having that discussion?
  3. Whatever happens at the deadline, it is frightening that this team could become even better.
  4. Keep those dongs coming, fellas. Time for J-Hey to join in tomorrow.
  5. Just wait until the Cubs play someone good Intrasquad scrimmage?
  6. So this weirdo is pretty horsefeathering good, huh?
  7. I would rather have Andrew Miller. Well, Miller would cost a lot more since he is still controlled for two more years after this one. Also he would cost $9 million per year in salary. Chapman is a rental guy, with a stigma attached thanks to the whole gun-shooting, domestic incident. Maybe we wouldn't even want him because of that. But, he'd cost a lot less in resources. And I don't want to give up a ton of resources for a relief pitcher, especially when the back-end of our pen is already really nice.
  8. Lackey put together a hell of an outing, after a sorta rough start, especially considering the wind blowing.
  9. I mean, there is nothing that would surprise me with this team. I'm all in for 117. And +300. We are just so horsefeathering good.
  10. Good lord, this is amazing. So many dongs. I can't wait to see what we do to Brewers and Reds pitching with the wind blowing out.
  11. There's also that whole situation where Theo gave Starlin his contract extension back in 2012, further disproving the whole notion he was trying to push out old regime talent. Yeah, and if he wanted to get in his own guys and push out guys from the old regime, he's had plenty of time already to trade Javy -- you know, like when he was a top-5 prospect. Instead, he chose to take the risk on a risky player that was already widely known for his tendencies as a hacker.
  12. Starlin wasn't traded because he was from a different regime and didn't fit Theo's prototype player. He was traded because he wasn't very good and was set to start making some money, and we had a chance to replace him with a better player through free agency. If Javy is a, say, 4-win hacker, Theo's not going to trade him because he is a hacker. We'll just have something like 7 patient 4-win players and 1 impatient 4-win player. Javy might not be the type of guy that Theo would look to build a team around. However, he is here now. And Theo certainly isn't dumb enough to just give up on a guy because he isn't good in the specific way he prefers players to be good.
  13. How about the Yankees continue to struggle and fall out of the race and make Chapman available?
  14. Can we petition that league to change the rules so that Rondon can qualify for a save with a five-run lead, since he plays for us?
  15. I'm not sure about this. It looks like his flippers may have come off the base. But I don't see how you overturn it.
