Team David here. Almora can certainly add value with his speed. He can do it by showing range in the outfield, going first to third, scoring from first on a double. He can add value by taking a base on a passed ball... wait, um. He might even chip in some value with 10+ SB. But the idea of him making the playoff roster because of his speed is a completely different story. Those previous things are things that he does that make Almora valuable. But, the idea of adding a guy for speed in the playoffs means that, well, that's really the only thing you are concerned about. And as such, there are much better options. For Almora to add value with his speed, he not only has to be inserted into the game, but the situation has to dictate it. A guy like Dave Roberts, or a Quintin Berry, is able to dictate those situations himself. Completely different story. You would be adding Almora to the playoff roster because he is a valuable asset, with a lot of his value coming from his speed. You wouldn't be adding him simply because of his speed.
