I voted Russell, who I've thought all along would be that guy. And I haven't wavered on Russell. But I'm really starting to wonder if it might be Javy.
Playing at a 100 win pace since the all-star break. Yes, that too. I was talking more specifically about just this game, though. It had all the things that we all complain about all the time.
Good starting pitching. Lock down bullpen. Scratched out some runs against an ace. Drove in runners in scoring position. Is that enough to satisfy everyone for awhile?
I've got a good feeling about tonight, too. I think we'll dong him. And I think Lackey will pitch alright. And, with Heyward out of the lineup, there won't be as many Gold Glovers for him to blame, anyway.
No, it's fine. At least we are discussing something interesting, instead of whining about the offense or whatever. But, to get back on track... that was very fun. Keep doing that, fellas.
Why would they view it like that? They also probably don't want to just pay him that money and lose him. It absolutely doesn't matter. That money is basically just money that is deferred from this year. They have to pay it either way. It won't factor into their thinking at all. But I figure it goes into their 2017 roster budget and so it has to be part of the money we can spend next year. Or no? I don't understand what you are getting at. The buyout always was part of that budget. The question is: Do they think Dexter Fowler is worth $16 million for one more season? Yes, they absolutely do. Or at least they should. The buyout simply doesn't figure into that answer.
Sunk cost, but doubt someone in at that point of their career coming off a career year signs a one year deal. Agreed. I don't think he'd accept but will Cubs be willing to offer on the chance he does? Yes. Absolutely. Why wouldn't they? He is worth a one-year, $16 million contract. There is no question they offer it.
The buyout is happening either way, though. It doesn't make a qualifying offer any more difficult. Right but I didn't know if they'd want to invest another 16 on top of the 9 they are already out. doesn't he have an option for next season? I don't think so. I think it's like a $9 million buyout or something to the point where it would be tough for the Cubs to extend the QO without giving him a one year, 25 million dollar type deal. The buyout is happening either way, though. It doesn't make a qualifying offer any more difficult.
I don't think he really pimped it too much. But I think it is impossible for him to do anything without it looking pimped. Basically: Everything he does is amazing.
