We need to do an overhaul of that swing in-season, like, right now. He's never going to hit this year with his swing as it is. I don't care how much work he puts in before the game. The swing needs overhauled. Do it now and hope he picks up a new swing by the post-season.

Imagine being a fan of the team with the best record in baseball and hating them as much as tryptamine hates this team.

You're comfortable with that, if a guy goes down? Because you SHOULD be scared [expletive]. How many guys are comfortable with their 6th starter? Ideally you'd like a young guy in AAA who could be a future rotation piece but between Wood and Montgomery you have a couple of options. Heck you could even extend Cahill. While that is true, other teams aren't like us. We are better than everyone else. So this is what we want. It's the one glaring issue, now that we have Chapman. If we want to be the best, our expectations for a 6th starter need to be more than Travis Wood and Trevor Cahill, who both suck really bad.

It absolutely reflects on it. This guy was our next-in-line. Not anymore. Now we don't have one. So now all of these pitchers in their thirties have to stay healthy and not lose any juice. Travis Wood? He's not even effective coming out of the bullpen.

You can't figure out why they were hoping to get the staff some extra rest? And also figure out if they had no back-up option, or if they had this guy in Iowa that maybe sorta could fill in if need be.

Bingo. This guy sucks no doubt about it but to have this start reflect on the current state of the staff is kind of a reach. It absolutely reflects on it. This guy was our next-in-line. Not anymore. Yeah, who cares about starters wearing out in the playoffs like Arrieta last year? Maddon has been pretty good this year about getting guys appropriate rest, limiting pitch counts etc this year. If it was common for pitchers to wear out going into October you'd see other teams using 6 starters. Other teams don't have 7 game leads on their division.

Is there something about the best starting staff in the majors that you don't like? Yes, this guy that is currently pitching for us is our only option if one of them gets hurt or loses effectiveness.

Matusz is going to Arrieta it almost immediately and he'll end up starting Game 1 of the NLDS.
