We just have to ride it out. Rizzo has these 2-3 week funks occasionally. This one is just poorly timed Or maybe it's perfectly timed, since we are still alive and it hasn't mattered. Get hot tomorrow.
Except for his incessant whining about Kris Bryant not hitting third. Wasn't that Smoltz? I thought that was Smoltz. Oh. Yeah, you're right. And Smoltz has really been grinding my gears.
Yes. This. It baits them into using the lefty-heavy lineup, which they would be all too happy to oblige us with. Then you bring in the lefties out of the pen. And they are left with this choice: Let the lefty-heavy lineup stay in against our lefty arms or... remove those lefties out of the lineup so as not to face our lefty arms, which then means they can't be used again later in the game when we come back with power righty arms. This ensures a healthy amount of left-on-left ABs, or it makes them twist and turn their lineup into a tizzy by trying to match up.
If he's moving at all, then I want him on the World Series roster. Hell, even if he can't move, we can wheel him out to the batter's box and he can crawl around the bases.
Yeah, especially if the idea is just to get to a guy quicker. You're still on the verge of elimination if you win. Save him for when he is fully rested. Try to steal that game and you still have your ace coming on normal rest later. If he's only starting two games anyway, and you have to win four games anyway, then don't get desperate. Let it play out.
Also, someone interviewing Javy was talking about how a bunch of guys contributed. He then asked Javy about how balanced this team is. Javy said, "Yeah, I've been playing really great defense. And I've been hitting really good, too."
I just did the same thing, in reverse. I watched all the post-game footage I could and then read through the last 20 pages of this thread. Handing out hearts like:
After scouring the internet for celebration coverage and interviews, I don't remember where I saw it. But a reporter in the clubhouse asked Javy, "Do you know you are now a nationwide superstar?" Javy's response: "Yeah."
