  1. Calling it now: Addy hits a home run this inning. Who is with me?
  2. That sucks. Javy really needed to be rewarded for not swinging at that ball and getting another walk.
  3. When you're walking Javy on five pitches, it's time to get somebody warmed up.
  4. From the Ding Dong files: this is the first four-run game by the Cubs since Game 7 of the World Series.
  5. This post reminded me for some reason of that time Hanley Ramirez jogged after a ball when he was with the Marlins. Not sure if there were enough people in the stands to boo, though.
  6. I fear this will be said a few months from now, too. They wouldn't be the first very talented team that underachieved greatly would they? They would not be. It's also why people are understandably continuing to think they will snap out of it, even though none of the numbers suggest it and certainly the product on the field doesn't either.
  7. the cubs are good. they just aren't playing well. I fear this will be said a few months from now, too.
  8. In defense of the Duke, this has less to do with his powers and more to do with the fact that the Cubs just aren't very good.
  9. A scrub poster should start game thread for scrub pitcher. That's all I got. Go Cubs, try to keep pace with the Brewers.
  10. I'll go do it. No self-respecting poster should have to on Eddie Butler day.
  11. Unless they fall out of the race quickly I don't see them selling. But at the same time I don't see them adding either. They might take a similar route that we did and just only add someone like Dan Haren. While we will most likely add some pitcher of significant value to our starting rotation. I'm saying the Brewers suck and that they'll be falling out of the race quickly. Duke TT Tim That's some heavy hitters saying the Crew suck and will be out of this race. I like it, even though it's wrong.
  12. Peralta no longer is in the rotation. Opening Day starter Junior Guerra is back. But I realize your point remains the same. Duke and TT have spoken. It doesn't get any bigger than those two on the board. Hopefully, they are right like they are 80 percent of the time.
  13. They score runs against everybody even without their whole lineup. Shaw out? Braun out? It doesn't matter. They mash. Some catcher named Michael Pina is hitting like Willson was supposed to. Their starting pitching has been rock solid and the numbers suggest it hasn't been a fluke. Their middle relief blows but it's also the easiet thing to trade for. Now, I will say even with all that they are still only four above .500. But that's because they have blown a lot of games late. Which is better than us blowing a lot of games early.
  14. One of us is going to be more right than wrong. Here's hoping it's you.
  15. I don't even care if it sounds stupid, the Brewers are better than the Cubs this season and will finish ahead of them.
  16. I don't care how easy the schedule appears. This team got swept by the Padres. No opponent is easy for this team. Yeah. And we haven't really dominated anybody this season, so I have no extra confidence going against a middle of the road team like the Mets.
  17. It actually was five games. But it came against two teams just as mediocre or even more mediocre than us, and it took multiple late comebacks to even do it.
  18. An error by the official scorekeeper, perhaps wanting to feel like he's a member of the team.
  19. At least at the very worst, by the end of the night the Reds can only tie us for second in the standings and we can only trail the Brewers by two games for first. Yeah, the Cubs suck.
  20. I've already been there. Pretty sure this is a mediocre team that doesn't have good enough pitching and has an offense that has slumped too much. That said, the smart people on the board seem to think we will be fine, so that offers me hope.
