  1. I'm thinking there is a chance Jake Arrieta throws his third career no-hitter tonight. That's worth watching the game for at this point.
  2. We don't need to rehash all this, but the Brewers put together winning months in April, May and June. Their offense has been among the league leaders in runs scored and dongs throughout and their starting ERA has been solid. ETA: Correction. They were .500 in April (13-13) so that's not a winning month. It's just not accurate to act like they had a lucky week and ignore the fact that they have been solid all season. They've been about as solid as a hugely disappointing Cubs team until the past week. If that means you have to give them the early overachiever award (personally I think the Diamond backs get it), then great. They've reduced the Cubs division odds from 95% to 70% over 3 months. Right now, though, there are about 5 good teams in MLB, and the Brewers aren't among them. I'll accept the overachiever status. They obviously look better because of the low expectations for them compared to the huge ones for us. But a $62 million payroll for a team that went a month without Roid boy, haven't had a losing month and will enter the break in first and at the very least seven games above .500..... is pretty damn impressive. But no, they aren't a top five team in baseball. It's just that they might not have to be if we don't get our stuff together.
  3. No, but a solid three months might. Sure, but that hasn't happened yet. A week ago, the Brewers were even with a hugely disappointing Cubs team with a worse RD. 4. In conclusion, the way you all feel about the Cardinals is the way I feel about the Brewers, so I really need you to be right in the worst way on this. Thank you for tolerating this slight meltdown tonight.
  5. If they happen to win the division, they can be crappy and still win it all. David taught me that. who said they were incapable of winning the world series? you were annoyed that people continued to write off the brewers for so long, so now you're just taking it to the other extreme by pretending they're great. Well, I mean I think most everyone was saying that considering nobody has them even making the playoffs. As for your main point, I have to say, that was very observant and spot on. I was annoyed for the exact reason you stated, and I have gone way too far the other way for the exact reason you also stated. My bad. I'll check myself moving forward.

  7. No, they are impressive. Their offense is completely filthy this season and has been the entire time. They didn't have Braun for a month and it had no effect on them. Their starting pitching has overachieved but it has been way more than solid with the offense they have to back them up. Hader has a chance to be a big weapon in the second half and they will buy another starter. I realize I just made them sound like the 27 Yankees, but just know they are not the garbage team all of our elite posters made them out to be. And with a $62 million dollar payroll and a team that was supposed to be rebuilding. Unreal. The offense is 11th in wRC+ at 99. It's good, but hardly "completely filthy" and is behind the Reds, for example. It will be interesting to see if they can sustain this, given they have several guys that have previously either been bad players or not nearly this good. Outside of Villar, just about everyone is exceeding projections offensively, most by a ton. Some may stay awesome, but there's going to be some regression too, or else it's going be the luckiest/most unexpected collection of hitting in recent memory. And then there's the pitching, where of course Nelson and Anderson have been much better than ever before, with a defense that has 8 more errors than any other in the NL. But they keep finding a way to win, and that's definitely impressive. I went overboard saying filthy, but their ability to dong from everywhere in the lineup fatigues me. They are just never out of games. I'm irritated that guys like Travis Shaw are all-world this year. I'm annoyed that somehow their starting pitching isn't getting bombed. But I'm forced to pay attention to them due to geographical location, and they just have passed the stupid eye test in so many ways. Mostly, I'm just left confused that our World Series, 180 million dollar, loaded with talent team is struggling to overtake them.
  8. And the Brewers have performed better in the most important areas. No horsefeathers. The whole point of those is to look past the W-L record and see if there is anything about the records that is smoke and mirrors/unsustainable (both in terms of over and underperformance) or if it's a legit representation of what has happened. So yes, the Brewers have performed better in the "most important areas." Great job stating the obvious. Hey, just don't ever forget how I also stated something a while ago that wasn't so obvious. Which was the Brewers were going to be a legit challenge to us. At that point, it wasn't obvious. Because Tim had them selling at the deadline, Duke had them winning fewer than 75 games and you were calling me a ninny. OK, that last one is correct.
  9. Yup. Just like TT was showing me the Steamers projections a few weeks ago. I can accept being laughed at. It will be even better once I'm actually, you know, wrong. These aren't projections or based on them. They're based on an analysis of how the teams have actually performed this year. And the Brewers have performed better in the most important areas.

  12. Man, the Brewers are good. Wondering how many on the board here have finally started to realize it.
  13. If all it takes is to post a stat about the weirdness of KB not donging for a while to actually get him donging, consider it done.
  14. I enjoyed it. Give us a clean inning with the big part of the order, and then give us a chance to add on runs and make the 7th and 8th even less meaningful.
  15. With a juiced ball this season, I think it's weird KB only has five dongs since May 26 and last hit one June 22.
  16. It does look a bit dark, doesn't it? ETA: Although you also are somehow assuming a three-run lead somehow holds up.
  17. Sofa said a few days ago the next person that said that was going to get his stuff punched. Guess you're the winner.
