  1. I dont know how many of you remember a Cubs farm hand a couple of years back "Alex Maestri" But he and Searle are playing on the same winter league team in Australia. Seems to be doing quite well, did anyone remember why we released him? http://web.theabl.com.au/stats/stats.jsp?t=t_ibp&cid=4065&stn=true&sid=t4065 Maestri 4-4 3.25 ERA 63 IP 50 Hits 24/53 BB/K 1.16 WHIP .210 BAA Searle 3-1 3.66 ERA 32 IP 21 Hits 9/34 BB/K 0.96 WHIP .179 BAA (Seems the BB are coming down)
  2. Is there anywhere we can follow players over playing in the Winter leagues? Or Does anyone here have information?
  3. Taken off: Chicago Cubs outrighted Esmailin Caridad to Iowa Cubs. Chicago Cubs outrighted Lou Montanez to Iowa Cubs. Chicago Cubs outrighted Kyle Smit to Iowa Cubs. Put on: Chicago Cubs called up Jeff Beliveau from Tennessee Smokies. Chicago Cubs called up Junior Lake from Tennessee Smokies. Chicago Cubs called up Matthew Szczur from Daytona Cubs. Chicago Cubs called up Josh Vitters from Tennessee Smokies.
  4. thanks, do you know how many AB's or Innings pitched to Qualify?
  5. Like over a career in the majors? Or the minor league leaders this season? Minor league leaders this season
  6. Speaking of Does anyone know the organizational leaders In BA, HR, ERA, Strikeouts, Etc Etc? For batter and pitchers?
  7. Currently Brett Jackson is hitting .333 1BB 6 K Beliveau 0.00 ERA 3 Inn 2 Hits 1 BB 6K Searle 2-0 0.73 ERA 12.1 Inn 10 hits 1 ER 3 BB 9K With a strong 7.1 Inn 3 Hit 0 R 1 BB 6K Win today over Team Canada "(Searle) threw strikes," said Canadian manager Ernie Whitt. "He was ahead of our hitters all day long and you have to tip your cap to him. "He was aggressive in the zone and we weren't." http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=377891 Manager Jon Deeble said Searle pitched some of the best baseball he has ever seen. “Searle pitched as good of a game as I’ve seen in the last 11 years managing this team,” Deeble said. “He was outstanding, and really didn’t give them a sniff the entire game.” http://www.baseball.org.au/?Page=80365
  8. Brett Jackson is so far 4/12 with a .333 Av 3 runs scored and 1 RBI 3BB 4K in 3 games Searle Started today and notched Australias first win, 5 Innings, 7 hits, 3 R, 1 ER, BB, IBB, 3K Beliveau pitched one inning to close out a blowout victory with 1 inning, 2 hits, 2k Solid if you ask me :good:
  9. So far i have seen that we have Brett Jackson, Jeff Beliveau and Ryan Searle all playing in the world cup in Panama, is there any others representing?
  10. Always great to have a good bullpen. Skaggs seems to be legit. Yeah he was, Searle was good also, 10-2 GO/FO and my man Beliveau was awesome again. He is unbelievable.
  11. I don't know but I'm pretty devastated that it might not happen, let me tell you. see that '6' next to skaggs losses? means he is unbeatable right?
  12. What do you expect the rotations to be in Iowa/Tennessee next year? Iowa: JJax, Coleman, Cabrera, Struck, Rusin Tennessee: Rhee, Whitenack, McNutt, Antigua, Searle/Suarez/Jokisch I like your Iowa rotation. Whitenack probably won't be ready at the start of the season and there's a chance McNutt gets bumped to Iowa with a strong AFL (I hope they stick him at Tennessee no matter what). If I had to guess, I'd say McNutt/Rhee/Antigua/Searle and one of Beeler or Jokisch (the other would be at high-A). Where does that leave Brooks Raley?
  13. I will agree with carpenter as best pen arm in the system, although i definetely rate both Believeiu and Rhoderick above them
  14. CUBS WIN!!! Now to get Tennessee a championship and then promote them all to Chicago!!
  15. Yes, i was under that impression also. In reading his online interviews, it seems that this may have finally changed. Coming into the season at 21 this year (turned 22 in AA) he probably needed to mentally gather it all, maybe the transition to the bullpen helped that. Also, i was watching and it seemed that everytime he would pitch out of the bullpen in Tennessee, it would be for 2-5 innings, most of the time backing up mcnutt. Im sure that if he had a regular relief role, that his numbers would also reflect those in daytona. I heard a report that his stuff is alot better in short bursts, although he does has enough quality pitches to work as a starter, seems he has his sinker working too you pointed out with the 2.0 GO/FO
  16. And this catch: That looked kind of awkward. Almost like he didn't exactly dive for the ball but rather just went limp after catching it on the run. Thats an amazingly difficult catch, and he made it look easy on a full sprint. Love to see you out there attempting it, if you can get out of your computer chair :yahoo: But seriously though, what a talent. And they tried to make him a catcher. HA! be honest...was that on purpose? Yes of course, thought it fit in nicely \:D/

  18. It seems to be a weekly update type of thing, as it was updated 3 days ago. http://web.theabl.com.au/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110725&content_id=22268062&vkey=news_t4065&fext=.jsp&sid=t4065 Also, down the bottom of the page now there is a box to submit questions, im going to send one or 2 through see if i can get a response
  19. Yeah i ws wondering what everyone was so excited about... He has allowed 6 HR in less than 40 innings? and 10 unearned runs to go along with the earnies.. So not as good a season as it looks just yet, still there is hope, lets hope he can make something of himself.. Even if he is Zambranos cousin haha
  20. I would not be opposed to that either, but at this stage i feel as though he should prove himself the rest of the season at AAA.. Coleman has pitched will in MLB last year.. Slow struggles this year seem to have calmed a little. But then again, a LHP in the rotation with good GB/FB ratio at wrigley would not be a bad thing.. And with this season already a throw away, would it be such a bad thing to get some of these young guys some experience. Plus coleman started on the same day as Z. So i think it would either be him, or ortiz back to the rotation, and bring back up a reliever such as berg?
  21. Coleman? Ortiz? Other?
  22. Very little guy, maybe 5'10 88-91 fastball, little slider nothing much too impressive Smokies with a good win tonight, another quality start.. Anyone else think they might have a shot to take it home this year?
  23. Anyone else besides me think that Clevenger NEEDS to be our MLB backup next year? I mean all this guy has done i HIT. HIT HIT and HIT. .300 Every year since 2006, Would be a great LH bat to compliment Soto. He has a low K rating, (99 games this year 35 K 34 BB) And seems to have decent doubles power
  24. And its tough too, since he can only play 1st base.. he is a big boy!
  25. Found this interview thought it interesting http://web.theabl.com.au/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110725&content_id=22268062&vkey=news_t4065&fext=.jsp&sid=t4065
