I can't tell you guys how much I wish I could find an equivalent Cubs fan to this guy. He's just hilarious. Hard to imagine anyone taking him seriously other than 15 year olds wearing their #5 jerzey they got for Christmas.

I don't know any self-respecting Cardinals fan who listens to Bernie. I haven't liked the guy for a decade. His squabble with TLR is absurd. I think he just really wants a seat on Around The Horn. I really think he'd bitch and moan no matter what we did with the team. He enjoys tending to his flock of reactionary Cards Talk posters. For some fun, go over there today and read the dozens of comments I'm guessing will pop up today over Pujols stating that he wants to play on a winning team. Oh god, it's a travesty! Riot in the streets! The Cards organization is sabotaging the entire city! -
CT was absolutely hilarious after Pujols said he wanted Manny on the Cards. Dozens and dozens and dozens of "SINE MANNY NOW! ! ! HERES HOW!" posts. There are a large number of internet-savvy Cardinals fans who've banned themselves from that painfully obnoxious forum. Always good for a laugh, though. One interesting point that sounded so different, to me, in this thread versus Cardinals fans at home, is what someone mentioned earlier about winning vs. beating the I-55 rival. In St Louis, I'd say most Cards fans would tell you that Cubs fans care more about beating the Cards than they do about winning overall. And I've heard several of my Cubs buddies say the same about Cards fans. Funny.

Hello, long-time lurking Cards fan. Great board. No, I'm not a mindless troll. Anyway, in some way, I agree with many of you here. I have never fully understood the many, many Cards fans who dislike the Cubbies/Cubs fans so adamantly. My formative years in the 80s and 90s, the Cubs were always just, well the Cubbies. I directed my angst toward the Astros, who always seemed to screw the Cards over, especially if I was at games. Honestly, though, I didn't hear nearly as much vitriol from Cards fans directed toward the Cubs until you guys really started kicking ass the last few years. So I'd say it's not as much self-pity as a sense of spoiled superiority. Sort of a "Hey, the Cubs aren't supposed to be good! Screw them!" deal.
