  1. TJ Yates time!!
  2. Lol Schaub
  3. That's probably the one injury that could actually make that team worse, shockingly, especially after trading their LT to BAL this past week.
  4. Reggie Bush could have a monster day against that shitty defense being the only weapon

  6. TINSTAAPP
  7. I really want the Maddux bros. That would be the ultimate marketing/PR move, IMO, and the one that would likely fit the theory of stick all the offseason money in the coaching staff and not into significant additions/make the excuse why no significant additions were made because all the time and energy was stuck in getting the Maddux Bros in here.
  8. He's partnered up with CAA. I'll be shocked if he's not extremely successful myself. Meh. Cano'd better hope that he's just a face and a name and that someone actually qualified is doing the work. These execs deal with Scott Boras, Tom Condon and Art Tellum; do you really think they won't be able to work over someone with no experience in this field? This could turn out gloriously bad. I don't think he's doing any actual negotiating. Pretty sure he's more of a spokesman/ambassador of whatever entity was created by him and CAA partnering. He's no more than a guy to go get athletes to sign with the firm and leak/say stuff to the press about negotiations with player x and team y. Pretty sure Jay-Z/CAA is going to send in a guy to negotiate that is a real agent with the necessary experience and qualifications. Don't you need to have a law degree/pass some sort of exam or get a qualification to be an agent these days anyways? Also what do agents get 3-5% (part of which goes into the agency)? Doesn't seem like it would be worth Jay-Z's time to be spending weeks-months intertwined in negotiations. He can make more money in less or same amount of time by acquiring/partnering with other companies, doing endorsements, making albums, touring, being featured in songs, etc.
  9. Gerrit Cole being interviewed on MLBN right now, he sounds like Kermit The Frog
  10. It does, he was looking like he could turn out to be a pretty good-average QB in the mold of a Schaub/Flacco type that if you put the right pieces around him you can definitely win.
  11. So you guys think Dusty will ever manage again?
  12. I'm not. Neither side is "right" here. MLB was overly aggressive and A-Rod is a cheating scumbag. I'm not disagreeing one bit that A-Rod is a scumbag, he is. But MLB trying to run him out and make an example out of him, with helping the Yankees out of their gigantic contract, at the same time? A-Rod is the lesser of two evils to me. I guess. It sucks that I have to root for A-Rod here, but like you said... I don't want the Yankees to get out from under that contract. I want them to have to pay every last cent of the stupid thing. Why does one have to pull for arod here? Can't we just sit back and enjoy mlb and selig being exposed as the scumbags they are? It's not like a "win" is going to do much for arod. He's got all the money he needs. Even if he plays again, his rep is cemented. He's just a guy in this. He won't be a hero if he's successful in the suit. I'm rooting for A-Rod to win in the sense it means MLB/Selig get exposed for the fraudulent, sanctimonious assholes that they are
  13. Lol, he has to be trolling, right?
  14. Go A-Rod! http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/popcorn-yes.gif
  15. Most importantly getting rid of Darwin Barney
  16. I'm on like year 5 of my RTTS on The Show and Gamel somehow winded up on the Cardinals in like my 2nd year and has been a annual MVP candidate ever since. So we have that going for us, which is nice.
  17. i'm low on our chances of making a Stanton deal work, because i don't think they have much desire for kids in the OF; with Yelich, Marisnick, Ozuna already penciled in the OF for a while, Almora/Soler/Lake might not be super enticing i can see it requiring us to part with Castillo, which i guess is fine if we're eager to throw $75M at McCann, but who knows I agree with this and if I'm the Marlins I wouldn't budge off of Baez needing to be in the deal for him since, as you mentioned, Soler/Almora likely have a somewhat diminished valued to them given their roster than what other teams value them at.
  18. KC/Tenn seem like good fits (though Tenn would be temporary as Locker will be back this year yet). Wildcard, maybe Houston if Schaub continues to be ass/they realize he isn't the guy to get them over the hump?
  19. Okay here it goes. - Trade Schierholtz, Alcantara, Vogelbach, Arrieta for Carlos Gonzalez and 1 of Tyler Anderson or Tyler Matzek - Sign Nelson Cruz to a 2 year $15-18m contract - Sign Tanaka no idea what it will take but a 5-6 year $100m +/- contract seems reasonable (when combining posting+contract) - Sign 1 of Josh Johnson (1 year contract), Jason Hammel or Scott Kazmir (both on 2 year Villanueva type contracts) - Sign Youkilis on a 1 year incentive laden deal - Bring in a guy or two via Rule 5, waiver claims, ST invites that could be a bullpen arm or utility player - Re-sign Sweeney to a 2 year $5-6m contract Lineup (since it's all hypotheticals here lets assume Castro and Rizzo are good) Do a platoon with Sweeney/Lake in RF, and a pseudo 3-way platoon with Youkilis, Valbuena, Barney between 3B/2B Castro SS Cargo CF Cruz LF Rizzo 1B Youkilis/Valbuena 3B Sweeney/Lake RF Castillo C Valbuena/Barney 2B Rotation Samardzija Tanaka Wood Jackson Johnson/Hammel/Kazmir Bullpen Strop/Parker/Bard/Villanueva/1 of Grimm/Cabrera/Ramirez/best of ST/ 2 of Russell/Rusin/Rosscup Bench FA C, FA RH OF, 1 of Olt/Gamel/Vitters/Watkins/etc. That could be a playoff team, I don't think it's any worse than what the Indians, Pirates, Rangers, or Rays put out there this year if everything were to mostly go right.
  20. That's an interesting pick up. Don't really see where there is room for him on the team (if he actually pans out which is no sure thing). But he's blocked at 1st, worse than Braun defensively at 3B, and we have two better LH OF options.
  21. Shorter and heftier. http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120211222860/southpark/images/0/05/Griefer.png
  22. WTF does that even mean? The sales contract limited how much Ricketts could spend on the team? I take it to mean Levine has no idea what he's [expletive] talking about No. He's not the first to talk about that arrangement. The debt/financing structure is what is presumably limiting them along with likely falling short of projected revenues (renovations/city help/additional ad revenue/falling attendance/etc.) not some explicit thing in their sales agreement. If you want to say their financing structure in the SA is keeping them limited, fine, but you really think there is some clause in there that says they can't exceed spending x?

  24. Yeah, really good set of early games this week.
