    Castro's swing/stance this year has just looked unbalanced to me, he seems to be bailing out on just about every swing

    Yeah, I think he's adequate enough to fake it there in the event of an in game injury, extra inning game with a sub, maybe start a game or 2, or whatever. Ideally it would be nice to send Alctantara down for Russell and cut Ross (I know) or send down one of the pitchers when Szczur is able to come off the DL.

    more like he's connecting on like half his swings and looks completely lost. i'm not saying i'm giving up on him or anything but i'm not sure we're any better off with him in the lineup right now. Yeah he looks horrible, he definitely should be in Iowa but our injuries and lack of MIF depth have left us with little choice but to have him on the roster.

    I'm very happy that the FO is coming out and saying he's our SS long term. He's the best option for the job, imo, when taking all factors into account (he's shown improvement every year, allows Russell to bulk up a little by moving to 2B, etc.)

    With Russell to 2B, maybe once Javy comes back from his leave they try and make him more of a utility guy and try him out in LF, 3B, etc. That would help relieve having a short bench/3 catchers once he'd come up.

    It could have affected things, though. The point was valid, he didn't harp on it, just mentioned something that didn't happen on camera. The meatballs don't need extra fuel. It's already intolerable listening to most fans of both the Cubs and other teams talk about Castro. What's even worse is other teams are now applying the same labels to Baez. Castro could, you know, end that by running hard. I always forgave Aramis because his hamstrings were always one hustle away from popping. Castro should be running hard on those plays. What if his ankle is still bothering him from last year?

    The thing we are doing to get the starting pitchers pitch count to a point where he's out by the 5-6th inning consistently, yeah we should keep doing that.

    His career LD% against is 20% and he's sitting at 47% so far this year. That has to change. His velocity is fine, his control/crispness (for a lack of better term) seems to just be a little off. I think he's going to be fine, just some early season bad luck combined with getting punished for missing on some pitches.
