  1. It's a fun exercise to think about but that just seems like a really dumb thing to me
  2. Yeah, they are going to have to get really hot and/or have multiple teams play some bad baseball. I'd be quite happy for them to miss out though because if we somehow got them in the DS they still would be scary as horsefeathers being able to use Scherzer/Strasburg 3 or 4 of the 5 games. They also are done with every other WC contender other than the VBs and Rockies (3 games each) other than that they pretty much only have the division games (like you said and really need those Phillies/Braves games) and 2 series vs us left. So it's not like they have a ton of "controlling their destiny" playing a bunch of the WC teams.
  3. I wasn’t. I want to say he’s hit the DL 3 or 4 times this year and you really have to hit as a DH (which I believe he is) to have much value. Only 3 qualified guys over 2 WAR last year at DH and none over 3. He literally needs to be JD Martinez, peak Nelson Cruz, etc to be more than a 2-3 WAR player at DH. Which that’s fine, just his bat really needs to play for him to carry value. That’s a combination of the Sox being overly cautious with their stud prospect and the minors having a short 7 day DL stay. And of course he has to hit to have value. But is there any doubt that he will at this point? David Ortiz was only a 3 Win player while rocking a 150 wRC+ at DH, but is anyone going to debate how he positively impacted every game he played? And that’s completely writing Eloy off in the field, which is premature. His bat absolutely has 150 wRC+ ability. There’s 11 qualified batters at 150+ right now, there were 7 last year. That’s an incredibly high threshold in this environment.
  4. He’s been signed for a while but I think either has been hurt or not playing a lot
  5. Look at that trade value!!! Short breaking up perfect games against a top prospect!!!!
  6. He take a break from the DL to play a game? Neat. He’s going to have to hit like JD Martinez to carry any value. He’s played in 73 games this year. That’s a bad take. As is the second part. There is this thing called the DH in the AL. If his defense gets to the point that it is a negative, they can just put him there and take advantage of that ridiculous bat. Edit: unless you were being sarcastic and I just missed it I wasn’t. I want to say he’s hit the DL 3 or 4 times this year and you really have to hit as a DH (which I believe he is) to have much value. Only 3 qualified guys over 2 WAR last year at DH and none over 3. 7. I’d hope not. He’s still owed ~$50 million. 3/46 sounds pretty good for Danny Duffy They’d have to really believe in something. He’s 72nd of 79 qualifiers for fWAR for SP, 71st in FIP (4.9) 75th in xFIP (5), 73rd in BB/9 (over 4) 48th in K/9 (under 8) so they’d have to feel they could tweak something. His velo is back in line with his career numbers after a dip last year, however.
  8. Is there a single position player in Tenn that’s remotely intriguing?? Legit asking, I just looked at their roster and didn’t recognize anyone but Shorts name on the position player side.
  9. Don’t go look at Eloy shredding AAA. It’s painful. Thank goodness Q pitched well last outing. He take a break from the DL to play a game? Neat. He’s going to have to hit like JD Martinez to carry any value.
  10. Godley’s BB/9 this year is higher than Chatwood’s career BB/9 and also higher than all but 2 years of Chatwood’s career.
  11. Godley was a complete nothing prospect who already had TJS on his resume, right?
  12. Wouldn’t have minded him, the Rockies continue to invest the most ever in to a garbage bullpen.
  13. I’d hope not. He’s still owed ~$50 million.
  14. It’s kinda blah but Oh has been solid and I wanted him in the offseason. 10.5 K/9, 1.9 BB/9, 2.6 ERA, 3 FIP 3.7 xFIP.
  15. Trading for Happ, in theory, would make Monty available in a DeGrom trade
  16. This is on the FO more than Joe. They have two cripples on the active roster
  17. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABAHAHAHhhahahHhahah
  18. Pinch run KB for Javy. His legs are fine
  19. Nice job Carl. Score you idiots and close it out in the next half inning
