  1. Nats are a good team and on a heater, we were due for a stinker game (especially at home). Would rather it be a blow out than like a 4-3 loss. Oh well, go get em tomorrow. Go Rockies and D’backs!
  2. Strop is just done, sad to see. IL him and get Norwood, Underwood, Hultzen or Wieck or someone up here to see if they’re bullpen option/roster worthy for the playoffs.
  3. Still have a chance here if we can get 1-3 runs off Sanchez and him out of the game by the 6th and keep them to 5 runs or less
  4. Let Pedro, Holland, Phelps and Chatwood finish this off. Jon should be done for the day.
  5. The Cubs and Nats, as a team, have pretty much identical offensive numbers. Nats are at a .263/.340/.453 slash line, .334 wOBA, 102 wRC+, 9% BB rate, 21% K rate, Cubs are at .253/.332/.451, .329 wOBA, 100 wRC+, 9% BB rate, 23% K rate. The only thing they do drastically different is steal bases. They are still better than everything the Cubs do, and then like you pointed out, can also steal bases. And also score more runs without needing dongs, as they rank 14th in that category and the Cubs fifth. It’s a nominal difference, like the .010 BA margin is less than 1 extra hit a game by them. Also would be interesting to see where their overall numbers were 2 weeks ago before they went on this like 120 runs in 12 games binge.
  6. I mean, we have the receipts As much as I enjoy the doom bonering that's been going on lately and how frustrated everyone is with Theo, it's still true that we *have* made the playoffs every year since the signing and probably will this year too. It's disappointing to see the gap that has emerged between us and the Dodgers/Astros, and but it hasn't actually burned us yet (I guess outside of blowing the divsion last year) Grinch Heart Growing.GIF

  8. I want Cole but lol, the draft pick will give them their excuse For sure they'll look to keep that group 6-9 and get an established 5th starter like Gio Gonzalez or Kyle Gibson. Ownership will want someone good, pitched for competitors or something, but not too good. The Winning Cubs usually carry 6 guys who can start on the ML roster and are pretty slow to give inexperienced innings unless the team needs it or the pitcher earns it so I imagine ideally Alzolay is no higher than 7th in the pecking order to open 2020 barring him blowing up in September and October. If Graveman can make it 8 before they go to a MiL that would be convenient. Not nearly as sweet as landing Cole I want Cole too but I just don’t see it. I think Chatwood will be moved for minimal savings or kept in a similar role so he’s 6, Graveman/Adbert/Rea is 7-9, then they’ll sign or trade for the 5th starter needed. Maybe it’s Hamels back (that scares me but if he’s cheap I guess it’s okay) maybe it’s a cheap option like Gio, there are lots of cheap/mid level type FA SPs (Gibson, Chacin, Keuchel, Odorizzi, Pineda, Roark are all guys that shouldn’t cost a ton but are solid). No idea who to target or who’s be available in trades (can worry about talking about that in 2-3+ Months).
  9. Someone mentioned a Bellinger-Benintendi hybrid type swing on twitter I saw, again not a comp to what he can be (though he’s gotten Benintendi comps), but I can see that in the swing a bit.
  10. Yeah I’d assume he takes Mills spot next year since Mills is out of options and will probably be sent out over the offseason. Good to see him back pitching already, should be able to have a normal offseason for him and hit ST running. Adbert/Graveman/Chatwood/Rea is about as solid a group you can ask for as the 6-9 starter/long man options next year, I think we’ll find a 5th starter that’s a safer bet than any of them. Even if it’s like a Gio González cheap type to start the year.
  11. If everything stays the same Strasburg - Stroman - Thor - deGrom all in a row games 3-6 Stroman left his start with a hamstring injury last night so we might miss him. Hopefully not because he seems like a guy we’d do well against and he hasn’t been anything special since joining the Mets.
  12. It would be 3 days in a row and 4 in 5 days if they used him today.
  13. This ump has had a weird, bad, game. He’s missed on some clear strikes in the zone and called some balls way out of the zone strikes.
  14. Javy looks a little further off the plate than normal or his front leg is more open or something.
  15. No way he’s available. I’d assume Ryan, Kintzler or Wick in the 8th and Pedro in the 9th (for reasons)
  16. Believe he’s top 5-7 in exit velo against. During a VBs game I was watching in the last month or so they flashed the exit velo against leaderboard because Davies was pitching and he’s up there too and I recall seeing Hendricks around #3 at that time.
