  1. eBay? Or else go to your local course if they have a decent pro shop maybe they have a gently used one or else I know my through my course I can order individual clubs if it’s not too old and still being made, could also contact a rep or the manufacturer directly. How old/what brand is the club?
  2. The 49ers remind me a lot of the Bears from last year, I mean that as a compliment and insult.
  3. At the end of the day we can agree that: - the full remaining deal is 4/96 - 10 of that 96 is signing bonus - the Cubs are probably eating some of that 4/96 to get someone to take it From that perspective I'm just taking one assumption that probably isn't unreasonable, even if that last post was pretty dumb and made up Yup. I still think the signing bonus thing may have been before the latest version of the CBA went in to effect when that somehow couldn’t mattered with the LT or something. My only other guess is a signing bonus now affects timing of payment, like if a guy has a $2 million signing bonus for a year maybe that’s due like within a week or whatever of the new league year instead of being paid out over a full season on a weekly or bi-weekly payroll schedule.
  4. I think it's pertinent for a trade like Heyward where you're most likely eating money anyway. Generally it seems pretty standard for the trading team to cover a signing bonus I literally have never heard of this being a thing in MLB. Like sure money has been moved/covered stuff in trades but I’ve never heard of money being sent to cover a “signing bonus.”
  5. It’s 4/96 (23.5 this year and next, 24.5 the final 2). https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/chicago-cubs/jason-heyward-7231/ Oh the other 10 is signing bonus...I'm assuming NFL rules since the MLB really wants to be them, the signing bonus would be the Cubs' to handle I don’t think it being classified as a signing bonus matters. Money owed is money owed and all or none of it can be taken on by another team in a trade and taken off the hands of another team. I think signing bonuses use to be a thing (for some reason) before the most recent CBA was signed/extended, they have no real use or meaning in the current CBA as far as I’m aware and I’m pretty sure Heyward signed before the most recent version of the CBA.
  6. I think it's 4/86 but still, wow I can't read good. I don't think that's insane unmovable either but to get it wrong is not a good look....Get it down to 4/60 or lower It’s 4/96 (23.5 this year and next, 24.5 the final 2). https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/chicago-cubs/jason-heyward-7231/
  7. Heyward has 4/96 left plus a partial NTC (think his 10/5 rights kick in next year so he’ll have a full NTC then). He’s probably not moveable short of eating a ton of money, giving up players/prospects we don’t want to or taking on another bad deal (which idk if that’s out there, Upton, Price, Samardzija, Cueto maybe? not familiar with their contracts entirely).
  8. Looking to save $2-3 million by trading a top 5 hitter in your WS contending lineup right off his best run as a ML hitter and entering his age 27 season seems nuts. If trading Contreras and only adding Grandal somehow stretches The Budget so much then this is already fubar so maybe go ahead, blow it up, and skip Grandal I mean I think there’s an argument Canha, Grandal, + stuff from Willy trade (Gray/Estevez, Rays package of names, etc) and another piece from the Schwarbs/OAK trade gives us a better team (not only this year but 2021 and on) vs just Willy, Schwarbs and like Chris Martin and Howie Kendrick or something.
  9. Schwarbs will make $2-3 million more than both this year. I wouldn’t go out of my way to make that move but in a scenario where let’s say we trade Willy and want to get Grandal but need to shed a little more money, trading Schwarbs for one of those two (plus another thing or two, like a cheap controlled pitcher) would be an okay way to back fill the roster, imo.
  10. Don’t know exactly what other parts would have to be moved either way but Canha and/or Profar coming in and Schwarbs going out I think could make some sense.
  11. Bryant is by far the least likely of these 3, imo, but his name still keeps coming up it seems.
  12. Exactly. It's a virtual lock without even knowing who is else is on the table that Contreras over 3 years goes a longer way for them than some unnamed unknown prospects. What are the chances they *actually* get ML impact prospects ready to run roughshod on the league for 6 years? Look how the Samardzija trade turned out for the Cubs and that was landing a guy who ended up one of the best handful prospects in the game right after I think if anyone's throwing an extra player in, probably a pitcher, it's the Rockies. Gray's not the AS (unless he was, I don't know), Contreras is the AS. Gray doesn't play everyday, Contreras plays everyday, Gray has 2 years, Contreras has 3 etc etc I’d take a Wilson/Blackmon trade. Absolutely no interest in Blackmon. He’s 33, has about 4/75 left, is basically a DH at this point and has pretty severe home/road splits. Imo, if your able/comfortable taking on that money just sign Castellanos or Moustakas (shift KB to RF) and trade Willy for something else.
  13. This is a really good article and sums up/overviews things really well.
  14. As a playoff team at all Well they should be taken seriously in that regard. That’s just dumb to not think they’re in a decent spot to grab a WC. Especially with Brissett going down. They have a 1 game or better L column lead over everyone chasing them and those teams are the likes of the Steelers, Raiders, Titans and Jags. Not exactly an inspiring group of teams there. And their remaining schedule has wins on it as I laid out.
  15. Seriously in what regard? Nobody, even their fans, think they were a legit SB contender or anything. But they are at 6 wins and have games left against the Dolphins, Broncos, Cowboys, Jets and Steelers. They should get a WC and to 9-10 wins.
  16. I’m all for getting rid of Russell but I hate Villar, he might suck. Plus he’s expensive. He made $1.4 million more than Russell this year. He will probably get a decent raise next year where Russell probably won't though. Russell is gonna be non-tendered. I’d rather do that and save the money than swap him out for Villar. There’s no extracting value out of him .

  19. If that's true, it makes even more sense to trade a guy with 2 years of control left for one with 3, right? It would make more sense to trade Gray to a team willing to trade multiple top prospects with lots of years of control left. I’d still be surprised if they prioritized guys who are 2-3+ years away when they have Blackmon, Arenado, Story, and Marquez around. I think a guy like Contreras has a lot of appeal to them, he’s still cheap and controlled for 3 years and helps immediately. But fine, then send them Bote/Happ, Ademan and like Corey Abott. Gray, as a target makes a lot of sense and we have the pieces to get him whether it’s a Contreras package or prospects and a lesser MLB piece.
  20. There’s more than one team that needs a catcher and other than Grandal there isn’t anyone close to Willy in value available. Willy is also only going to cost about $25 million over the next 3 years while Grandal will cost $40-50 million over those 3 years (plus probably take another year or two and more money after that) and is older. It’s not hard to see how there would be multiple teams interested in Willy that the report mentioned today, even with Grandal a FA. Realmuto was traded last offseason when Grandal was available via FA too.
  21. I think Venable is TBD depending on if he gets a job elsewhere (I think Mooney said they want him back) and they still have 3B coach, possibly 1B/Venable spot and that quality assurance role Denorfia had to fill. Is Strode technically still on the staff with just a different role? Or did he move to FO or something?
