Bradley Suspended for the Rest of the Season

I know it's not a great idea but what about Michael Young? He is due $16 mil a year through 2013 ( :eek: ) but he's pretty solid and could be our solution at 2B. We could also move him to SS, I think him and Theriot are pretty close defensively at SS, but I could be wrong. He has a limited NTC and has a list of 5 teams he can be traded to, I know he was rumored to be available last year. But with that contract it would tough to trade for him unless the Rangers assume a big chunk or we move Soriano's/Zambrano's contract (which is pretty much impossible or counterproductive). -
Where do we stand as we head into the last 2 weeks? Would be nice to keep this record going.

Yes, it is a conspiracy. Every one is out to get the poor guy. No, not what I was saying at all. He's been extremely easy to dislike everywhere he's ever been. Which sucks, because he's good at baseball. Trading him will suck even worse, because there is no way for us to come out ahead in that. That's my main point here. Apparently there is a point where being decent at baseball isn't enough. It just goes to show that if you are a [expletive] enough of a person, your [expletive] can outweigh your baseball skill, unless your last name is Puljos or Bonds. I guess my question becomes this then....... If we trade him and eat alot of salary in the process, how are we a better team? Maybe in the process we get more lefthanded?

The best thing for the Cubs would be for Bradley to shut his mouth, learn to deal with the fans, and come back next season. Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen. Bradley will either come back and continue to be a distraction, or he will be traded for next to nothing with the Cubs eating most of his salary. I think he's getting traded. The team that might make the most sense for a trade in which we might be able to get something back or not have to eat a huge amount of his contract would be the Angels. They potentially lose Vlad, Figgins, and Abreu and will be looking for a bat, can afford to take on a little contract probably, and since they are an AL team Bradley at least makes sense for them as they can DH him and not have to play him in the field all the time.

I think he means right now, Soriano is done for the year and Bradley is always in flux, so the spot spots are "up for grabs" for the remainder of the year.

I am fine with giving him a 2-3 year deal, he won't be terribly expensive and there aren't that great of options through FA Harden is better than Bedard and is healthy more often, Lackey is going to be expensive and there really isn't anyone else. There are no realistic upgrades through trades (Halladay, King Felix) we'd have to unload the farm just to start negotiations and we probably don't got the talent. As long as the deal is under 25-30 mil. I could live with a 2-3 year deal for Harden as long as there are IP, GS, etc. clauses in it. -

i have a hard time believing that, considering that he didn't pitch many innings in 2006-07 and has just been average this season. He's making $7 million this year. You think he'll get a pay cut down to $5-something million? I think the absolute minimum he makes next year, if he goes through arby with the Cubs, is $8.5 mil. something around $9.5-$11 mil. is the most realistic and reasonable salary IMO. -

Even though he is like 1-24 in his last 25 ab's, the last two days he has had better ab's and hit the ball pretty hard. Any correlation to them bringing his Japanese hitting coach back over? Maybe we should just hire him full time next year for Kosuke.
