  1. Saw that coming. Thanks for stealing my pick, jerk. :D
  2. I offered to let CubbieBum make this pick and just rotate choices from now on. I'd like to give him an hour or two to see if he wants to stick with Jones. edit: We're going with LSU S Chad Jones. http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/65/651276m.jpg
  3. So...
  4. Are you sure you wouldn't rather go with Wooten?
  5. That's right. I forgot about that. Man, Texas has had some good DBs in the last 10 years... I have a feeling that Brown and Westerman won't commit until 2011. Each is the top recruit at his position in the country, iirc.
  6. CB Quandre Diggs ---> Texas He's not a top national prospect (No. 24 in Texas), but Duane Akina knows his DBs.
  7. I would put him in a 3-4. Could be a very similar player to Orakpo. we don't play a 3-4... oops. but i like kindle better than the other two guys i considered (everson griffen from usc, who seems to still be getting by on the "potential" label but hasn't produced enough; carlos dunlap, who has character issues and work ethic questions). Kindle is more of a 3-4 type linebacker, but I think he can play a 4-3. You might not be maximizing his value that way, though. I really like Dunlap. WrigleyField 22 and the Ravens are now on the clock. I PMd him. Kindle is better-suited for a 3-4, but he can play OLB or DE in a 4-3 (which he basically did at Texas). If you want a 4-3 OLB, Sean Weatherspoon is your guy.
  8. As said before, CubbieBum and I averaged our rankings. Fortunately, we were able to fill our two greatest needs with the BPA on our board in the first round. After taking Haden at No. 13, we'll go with Rutgers OT Anthony Davis http://scarletknights.com/football/images/2008/preview/davis.jpg
  9. "Go long with extenze."
  10. Bump that to 4.43 officially. Not quite as impressive, but still very good for a guy that size. let me guess, the 9ers might take a shot at him? I hope not.
  11. I doubt he gets past the Titans. I doubt he gets to the Titans for that matter, but if he makes it to 16, I think he's going to Nashville. I don't think he gets that far.
  12. I think Virginia CB Chris Cook fits SF's profile perfectly. 6'2", 212 and ran a nice 4.46. I think they love him in Round 2.
  13. Bump that to 4.43 officially. Not quite as impressive, but still very good for a guy that size.
  14. Unofficial 4.44 for Earl Thomas. Wouldn't be upset at all if the Niners took him.
  15. Taylor Mays? That can't be right. He said that's what he'd run, but I still thought 4.4.
  16. Unofficial 4.24 for Mays.
  17. Joe Haden and his 4.57 40 might be dropping to SF now.
  18. Greenlea and Flowers committed as did Steve Edmond and Kendall Thompson. Saw that. Greenlea was a huge get. If we can get Brown and one of Westerman/Hegarty and Reed/Rasco, I love this class. I would think that we'd have a great chance at both tackles since they'd have a strong chance to start as freshmen.
  19. Tennesse wins the coin flip. They'll pick 16th and the Niners will pick 17th.
  20. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but with Brandon Williams (reportedly a Texas lean) committing to Baylor without visiting and Herschel Sims backing out of tomorrow's junior day, something is up. As you said, we need a No. 1 RB, but two of the big 4 seem to have no interest. I know we haven't had a great running attack the last few years, but we did have 7 years of Ricky Williams and Cedric Benson not too long ago. I'm guessing (read: hoping) that the staff is doing everything they can to show Brown he's their guy (bringing in a FB, eschewing other RBs, running the pistol, etc.) like they did with Whaley.
  21. Malcolm Brown alone would be huge, Hershall Sims has declined a junior day visit. Brown probably knows he could start as a true freshman too. He would, but we're going to need some tackles pretty soon. I'd like to land Greenlea this weekend, which would allow us to wait on Westerman. Malcolm Brown, by the way, looks like the next Adrian Peterson. Hope the situations don't turn out the same. He was ranked as the 2nd best Texas HS RB behind Peterson of the last 25 years. I could see why. Have you watched his highlights?

  23. LB/Beast Steve Edmond and OL Sedrick Flowers verbal to Texas. Hegarty and Greenlea are coming to the next junior day on Saturday. If we can land two of Hegarty/Greenlea/Westerman and Malcolm Brown, we'll be in great shape.
  24. r Yawn. Yeah that is not surprise, Texas usually have their classes wrapped up by summer time. So no surprise here. You're right about that typically being the case, but I hope that's not the case this year. Gilbert will be running for his life if they don't grab at least two OL that pan out.
  25. Yeah, Shipley (who will undoubtedly room with Case McCoy), Evans, Jackson, Hutchins and a few others are good gets, but the success of this class will depend on landing a RB (Brown or Williams, please) and at least two stud OLs (Westerman and Flowers).
