  1. This is pretty much the recruiting season for UT. Usually not too much going on for them at the beginning of the year as they don't have any offers left except for guys waiting until signing day. Also beats reading about the Cubs right now. Pretty much. Also, just trying to enjoy this while it lasts. Doesn't seem that long ago (1996) that I was a freshman on campus, and beating Nebraska in the Big 12 CCG was the biggest thing for UT football since 1970.
  2. A little surprised to see him recommit that quick, i'm sure he knows that if he decommits again he won't have a chance to come back. From what I understand, we only left the offer out there because he was so forthcoming after his de-commitment. This defense is going to be stout for the next few years.
  3. DT Quincy Russell re-commits to Texas. Texas says no take backs this time.
  4. Brown, ASJ, Vaughters and Charles Jackson, please. Looks like Jenkins was offered over Jackson based on junior day performance. ASJ is said to be attending the 1st weekend of August, hopes are he gets offered and commits that weekend. If we get Brown and ASJ (and Gilbert stays his senior year), I'm thinking about planning a trip to New Orleans in January 2013. edit: I just read about offering Jenkins over Jackson. I guess he must have impressed, because Jackson was the reported Turner contingency as of a few weeks ago. Whatever, I trust Akina.
  5. I mixed him up with Anthony Wallace (LB out of Dallas).
  6. Brown, ASJ, Vaughters and Charles Jackson, please.
  7. I saw the news that Texas had landed a big recruit and hoped for Malcolm Brown. Turner is a great get (and might be a bigger need). Now let's get Brown and wrap it up.
  8. I like that one. I'm going with the Big Tex.
  9. Apparently Chip Brown said that Texas and five other Big 12 schools accepted invitations to the Pac 10 on Sportscenter a little bit ago.
  10. I think the two divisions should be called the In-N-Out Burger and Whataburger divisions. Someone's been reading the Fake Larry Scott twitter account. I haven't, but I will if he used that joke!

  12. Yep. http://i395.photobucket.com/albums/pp32/HenryJamesBC/UIL-Class-1A-Boys-B_258760c.jpg
  13. If Casey's worried about people cheating, he should stay a little more in the baseline... http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/218/cobrablake.gif
  14. To me, it seems like Wilken is looking for the next Alex Rios, Michael Young and Chris Carpenter. Those seem to be his favorite types of players. Athletic up-the-middle position players (Brett Jackson) and big pitchers (Cashner). I could see Wilken liking Brandon Workman as much as Brett Eibner.
  15. Cedric Reed (No. 1 DE in Texas) ---> Texas
  16. Nice pick, Bum. I'd love the first three picks to turn out like that.
  17. I'd have gladly traded down with you for your second round pick. How kind of you. Let me just check that draft value chart... Hey, you want Haden. :D Apparently he's pretty expensive. Actually, I was very happy with the Kyle Wilson pick the more I thought about it. I'd be OK if that's how the real draft turned out, although it seems like Trent Williams will be gone before 13.

  19. Since dew predictably chose Joe Haden, we'll reach slightly and take a player that fills two needs: CB and KR. Kyle Wilson, Boise St. http://image3.examiner.com/images/blog/EXID778/images/wilson.jpg
  20. Like I don't know what's coming... :D
  21. Damn, he's probably the best OL in the west. He might be the best OL in the country. Our line is set for the next 4 years. Now about Malcolm Brown...
  22. Should be interesting. Looking forward to watching it after hearing that Gilbert has been doing so great all spring. Did any of the WR's enroll early? I can't remember, but don't think so. The two QBs (whom I hear might both redshirt) and DB Adrian White were the only early enrollees. I think Mike Davis might see some action early because of his advanced route-running (I think he's the new Shipley next season) and Darius White might return a few punts toward the end of the season. I'll watch the whole thing because it's the closest thing I'll have to college football for a few months. I want to see how Gilbert looks with some reps with the first team, the new front 7 and the new base offense (why don't they just commit to the pistol?). I also want to see which 2011 recruits are there.
  23. Texas' spring game will be televised, 4 p.m. Sunday, FSN Southwest.
  24. It's tough for me to pass up Jordan Shipley here, but I have to go with my favorite prospect left on the board. This guy is a small-school prospect that showed good athleticism at the combine. Even though we already took a tackle, the Niners line is the worst in football. He'd probably start at guard and kick out to tackle when needed.
