  1. Why do you think certain pitchers get more run support than others on the same team? As long as my team scores more than the other team, I'm happy... Yeah, it's too bad now that Clemens is old he sucks at getting his team to score lots of runs. that's what your argument boils down to, and it's just absurd. I can't believe anyone would want to argue your side of things edit: I can't believe anyone other than joe morgan would want to argue your side of things
  2. Can I complain after 4 blown calls, 2 in the bottom of the 9th? ](*,)
  3. And cedeno is inexplicably called out at first. 2 clearly blown calls so far. Is it just me, or does this happen more often when we're playing the cards?
  4. Take away Prior's 3 worst starts... Done. Prior now has a 2.72 ERA and is 11-3
  5. pretty sure neifi's full salary kicked in at 350 or so PA's. He's going to finish the season with over 500.
  6. He went to japan and failed miserably. Had a sub 600 ops, if I'm remembering correctly.
  7. none since johnson got cut this season
  8. I'd be shocked if they don't promote him like crazy. MLB has been bemoaning the death of the black US baseball player (and fan)for years. There's every reason to believe that they'll want to use him to boost the popularity of the sport. I was just looking around and saw this "A Seattle Times analysis of active rosters, including players on disabled lists, showed that 8.9 percent (79 of 888 players) were African-American."
  9. I really didn't think (when we signed him) that he'd be able to boost his innings per game at his age. guess 2002 and 2003 were just flukes
  10. Can someone tell Dusty that there is no "stretch". Sit down your hurt players, stop having starting pitchers throw 120 pitches to protect a lead... denial can be a wonderful thing For laughs, anyway Until he misses next season with an injury he aggravated with 3 days left in a season they're 13 games out of a playoff spot in
  11. For the record, there are 2 things to do in aruba: eat (lots of good food) and drink (lots of strong drinks) Number 3 would be water sports involving wind. Anything else is far behind
  12. I was hoping for a "is [guano] insane" choice Edit: oh, I voted for mediocre. that really reflects my disdain for managing in MLB in general more than respect for dusty's abilities
  13. How often do the Low Countries have to deal with category 5 hurricanes? 8-[ Send a katrina at amsterdam and there would be huge damage.
  14.
  15. Agonz has neifi in OBP and slug this year, for the record. and he's cheaper
  16. A case can be made that Lee has had better lineup protection than Pujols . Cubs' team OPS = .777 Cards' team OPS = .768 . lol erm what % of the difference between those 2 OPS is Lee beating pujols? answer: 7 of the 9 thousandths of OPS Yeah, a 770 team will have a ton of protection for a batter compared to a 768 team Edit: and I'm sure that the pitchers on the cubs, who are the difference in the team OPS, are giving lee a TON of protection. Take away the pitchers and the cards would have a sizable OPS lead (the cubs 3 starters have OPS higher than any starter on the cards, zambrano by 200 points+) second edit: wow, I missed marquis. Monster season hitting by a pitcher.
  17. You are wrong. This may answer both our questions, what is your age 45 here. I bet you'll find it spit by age groups the mid-age will say Jay and David the ynger set Conan. It is a matter of maturity I guess It is true, most 50 year olds aren't awake for conan
  18. Don't worry, after cedeno dropped the transfer on that (unlikely) double play attempt, baker will be sitting him.
  19. It's an important month for his next contract (sept, I mean)
  20. Wow, it's nice when nomar can actually play
  21. Especially good when your starter is getting hit in the first
  22. to quote gameday (because I missed it) Jason Phillips singles on a line drive to center fielder Jerry HairstonJr. Oscar Robles scores. Jeff Kent out at home, center fielder Jerry HairstonJr. to first baseman Derrek Lee to third baseman Nomar Garciaparra to catcher Henry Blanco to shortstop Ronny Cedeno. Ok, is that wrong or was that really insane baserunning?
  23. Give me a break. Wow, I really thought I had heard them all Only possible conclusion: I'm getting so old
