  1. hey auggie got a hit! Congratulations on being a bit lucky for a single AB! please stay in their lineup!
  2. And there's no way Kenny Rogers would be stupid enough to have an illegal substance on his pitching hand, either. Do you really think that Webb wouldn't realize that he would be seen constantly touching his cap with the "pine tar" on the outside? Now I have to let it go, but you guys are being ridiculous. it would be the dumbest cheat of recent memory if he was caught and found guilty.
  3. I dont know if I've ever seen that stat posted by you Fred where the Cubs have a higher average. It's happened a few times, but not many !! CUBS are 34-25 when they average 3.6 P/PA or fewer.... 51-52 when they don't Go CUBS !! you should expect to see it every game in this series. The DBacks are a horribly impatient team. We're bad, they'rer us minus years of experience teaching us when not to swing.
  4. I think theres one in Joliet the nearest one to chicago is in champaign,135 miles from evanston
  5. It's there, I just noticed it. He keeps touching the area too. It's on his bill. top or bottom?
  6. that's the way to deal with that hacking wonder, Z!
  7. well, that's an auspicious start for us, DBack pitcher-wise
  8. of course I'm scared. There's absolutely no way to predict how this game would turn out. You'd be crazy to bet on it.
  9. writing it as one word really confused me. "Gameday" is the MLB.com java thing for watching the events of the game online.
  10. I'm trying to imagine a 7th inning interview with bartman "so, steve... "
  11. wow, how did he catch that
  12. 12.5 hours to go and I'm all smiles. Maybe partially because of sleep deprivation, but still! Cubs playoff game tonight!
  13. Went to a NESCAC school, had a lot of die-hard Red Sox fans for friends. I support them, but not enough to really keep track or watch their games.
  14. In basketball, replay is mostly used for the clock, but also to determine whether a player's foot was on the line during a three-point shot (only used on close calls obviously). In hockey, they'll use it to see if the puck crossed the goal line, or if a goal is scored right as time is running out in a period. Hockey can use to make sure a goal is good for any number of reasons. Like touched with a high stick. Intentionally kicked or punched in. If baseball had instant replay I could see about 25% of all double plays being reviewed. There's no way they'd let things like that be reviewable anyway.
  15. I wonder how much tickets to a Cubs/Yankees or Red Sox WS game at Wrigley would go for...
  16. You really don't know this. There's no way to know how much the new ownership is going to spend. There's really no way to even know who the new owners are going to be at this point, despite all the conjecture from the papers so far. Isn't it a little like maxing out your credit card and hoping that your future salary will be able to afford your current purchases though? It's an irresponsible way to live your life, and it's an irresponsible way to run a business. The only way it pays off, is if we win a WS this year. More like maxing the card, knowing for certain that your wife is going to be making enough money to cover it, but not knowing if you'll be able to use her money to pay for it. If whoever is in charge at that point compares him to the worst of the history of MLB instead of the rest of the league, they, too, should be fired.
