  1. I think it's you. And where was that first pitch to Lee? Deep? pitch to lee or hit from lee? he hit it to about the distance the CF was playing, in the gap to the right
  2. that was the silliest faked check swing I've ever seeen
  3. I don't see any group on this board that would have an "I told you so, jerkfaces" explosion if Sean had a bad game. I don't see how this thread would go bad if that happened edit: turned an of to if
  4. Pretty sure Houston did that a couple of years ago
  5. how much did that run ya, big spender? Enough to buy you a year of premium...or my bar tab for one night. However you want to look at it. lightweight
  6. yeah, you know it's wrong, but he wants it, the fans want it, the media wants it, and no one will ever blame you for that, even if it costs you games down the road. Baseball is enough of a game that people still make decisions like that.
  7. If I got nothing but low-movement fastballs, I could make contact of some sort and probably hit a fair number of singles. I'd probably hit .020 if they threw me nothing but breaking balls, and that would be lucky. And I'd look really stupid when someone threw me a changeup. Say a line of .100/.120/.150 if just the FB, and close to 0 otherwise What I really want to know is how I would bunt against real ML pitching. It looks so easy, it was so easy when I played, and I have no way of guessing how much harder it would be. (this assumes I was back in my baseball practice and could still swing without my ankle injuries)
  8. I don't see "caning" on the list of options
  9. I was thinking about this tonight. With pitchers going shorter and shorter and relievers being more important than ever, these trends will force baseball to go to a larger roster at some point, will they not? So I wonder, what do people here think about it? Would they support/object/be neutral if MLB changed its rules to a 26 player roster? And, of course, the increases in money means that a rookie-type player is essentially free even for the poorest team
  10. For tonight, that HR was to LF in Houston, but he crushed it, it wasn't a lazy fly.
  11. You're a real class act. I'll buy you a Funk & Wagnall's--you're such a witty guy! i don't know what that is, but i'll assume it's from the 1950's and politely decline. or should i "smartly" decline...? You're a law school grad who can't decode a common usage of "smart" really? And you think that "foolish" is the antonym in this case?
  12. Great job, Marmol! I hope your arm holds up!
  13. Looks like Marmol is losing some control. Just a bit.
  14. He was safe, lou. the tag wasn't down in time. edit: I was wrong. He was nailed
  15. BEcause our bullpen blows besides those 2 Wuertz has been very good for the past 2-3 weeks, and solid generally
  16. This is why. Then he should have put in Eyre
  17. So you bring in the righty instead of the lefty and then go to marmol when 2 lefties get on?
  18. Why is Marmol warming up? lou doesn't want to pitch wood 4 innings in 5 days?
  19. Wuertz has been really good lately. If you're not going to go with the lefty, I like it.
  20. Soriano stole Lee's beard and now keeps it tucked inside his uniform. Therein lies his power.
  21. Strike one on soriano is juuuustt a bit outside
  22. with marmol semi-tired? seems fairly likely. Anyone seen a bullpen shot?
  23. They are not that bad. Yeah, but it's fun to make fun of them. They're like a baseball fans' own punching bag. No, that would be us. 100 years and all. In defense of the Cubs, they never got to play the Royals in the WS
