As the member of a small extended family that has provided a number of people converted to punters at the D1A/practice squad level, yeah, punting is the last low-hanging fruit on the NFL skill tree. It takes not much exercise and pathetically little practice to get up to the general area where you can be considered for the position, and untrained people who have the leg strength for NFL level punts aren't that uncommon I expect, if no rule changes, punters capable of routine 70 yard punt averages in the next 15 years.
